Had to call them this morning, as my MY98 wouldn't start (flat battery). Rang me back and advised that I'm not covered for home start!!!! I begged to differ, as my policy clearly states that I am, and they advised that they provided support only in case of an accident, but that if you required home start, it was dealt with by the RAC. Did anyone else know this, because I've never been notified or heard of this before ?

Got through to the RAC, and they were out within 20 minutes and got me started. The guy confirmed the alternator was fine but that the battery was in all probability dead. My local dealer (Intermoto) fitted me in this morning at no notice whatsoever, and replaced my battery under warranty, so top marks to Danny and the guys.

All I need now is to get that @#!$? Clifford alarm working again.....

If they have changed the policy then it must've been recently: last summer I called them 'cos my MY00 wouldn't start (I had left the internal light on - doh!). I had no problem from SA, although I did from the garage who didn't turn up until about 90 mins after the first (of many) calls.

Apparently the guy was sent out but had stopped off for breakfast on the way!!!

no problems on calling them out either...mind you ...SA do send out local garages to look at the car and not Subaru Specialists...so i was a bit Dubious when the Mechanic could not find the FUse box!!!!
after he car had blown a fuse

Called them out in France 4 years ago. racing a 911 cross country on a PC treasure hunt, snatched 3rd, thought I'd missed, tried again, looked at gearlever, oh s**t.
Called SA "I think there is a problem with my three day old quickshift"
"What problem sir?"
"Well, I'm in a phone box and so is my gear lever!"
"Ah"

There within the hour, shame I was in Fancy dress!!!

They should attend wherever you are. Got my MY00 recovered from home to dealer no problems. I wonder if they had a different scheme back in 98 and only do home start on MY99/00 ?? Also they should send a scooby technician first if one is avaliable (I was given a choice - problem was major so opted to get it recovered rather than have some bloke arrive only to say "can't do anything with that I'll get it recovered")

What transpires is that there are two different areas of support - one company does the roadside recovery, and the other does home start. You're still covered as before, but just supported by two companies rather than just the one.

Probably.
