Old Rally Clips

Lets see your favourite rally vids here.

This is one I've always liked from Youtube - YouTube - Ari Vatanen - Manx Rally 1983

Ari Vatanen in a Manta, 1983 Manx rally. Needs to be watched in HQ! Notice the recovery at about 1:40. This is what rallying should be like! I know it's great having cars that are perfectly balanced and do exactly what you want, but things are so much more exciting when it's basic!

Here's a good one from one of my heroes...Colin Mcrae;
YouTube - Rally Portugal 1998 Colin Mcrae Subaru Impreza in car

Love the Manx rally vids. Duke videos do lots of those in-car dvd's and are usually well worth buying. It never looks as fast outside the car as it does when your in the car with the driver ripping through these narrow stages. :)

Yeah that's a good one...very smooth!

This is another one of my faves http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=44iibIEeWGM

Think the sound of the Quattro has to be one of the all time greatest engine notes! It's amazing what these guys did...the power of the cars and the speeds they reached. The four wheel drive was as basic as you could get and the Audi is like a big barge handling wise, with rubbish brakes too. These guys had serious balls to throw them about like that. :D

It's a shame we aren't pushing to go bigger and better these days. Obviously a good thing as far as the safety of the drivers in any motorsport are concerned, but group B was about seeing how quick a car could possibly go through the woods and it was the absolute pinnacle of engineering at the time. Now engineering is being pushed to it's limits, but it's not the same when it's to meet the rules of a restricted class!

That was 6 and a half minutes of greatness Glesgakiss :thumb:. I like the look of the RS200 but the Quattro definately sounds the best :)
