Engine cut out

Driving in 3rd gear around 5-6k revs and all off a sudden total power loss, the engine cut and I coasted to a halt.
No check engine light or fault codes.
I tried to restart it several times but it wouldn't fire although turned fine and a good spark.
AA towed me home.
When I got home I tried to start it and it ran ok for a minute while I drove it into the garage.I've not driven it since.

Twice in the last week as I was accelerating moderatley around a left hand bend there was a definite power loss momentarily but then it ran fine.

Any ideas what could be the problem?

Fuel surge perhaps i understand if the car is low on fuel ¼ tank or less and you take a corner quickly it can happen, never had this myself though.

Fuel cut due to over-boost ?

My classic did it, felt like hitting a brick wall.

dunx

P.S. Blocked fuel filter, or a dying fuel pump ?

That's what I was thinking tbh although it's a Walbro and 12 months old which is why I had doubts.

Thanks

Fuel pump connection under rear seat

bob r 16 August 2009 07:16 PM

ok.

I havent started the car until today and I only reversed it out of the garage.

I then removed the pump using the JGM guide and put on new bullet connectors.

Then it wouldn't start. No relay/priming sound, no fuel at the fuel filter and no 12V at the pump connector.

Could it be the relay and how do I check it ?

Have you checked this? Trace wires from pump to plug under seat

I couldn't find any wiring problems so I took the pump out again and found a stray wire.:wall:

Needless to say the car is fine now.:)
