Anyone else had any probs with the bracket
that holds the siren unit in place?
(Engine bay - left hand side).

Mine has failed twice now - snaps off at the
bend in the bracket. Hopefully Subaru will
fix it again under warranty.

If anyone has had this problem, have they
any suggestions for strengthening the bracket
etc?

I presume its vibration that is causing it to
fail - 9 months per bracket....

Yes, been there done that!

I re-attached it to the silver brake thingy that's in reach of the wiring.

Hope that helps.

I've been there and done that, I did a temporary fix by welding it, and then got it replaced by the dealer, I think I may have been better off with the welded on as it was probably stonger. We'll see!

I believe there is now a modified bracket to stop this happening. I think the first batch had a 95% failure rate!!

Your dealer will replace it, or phone Subaru Parts Dept to complain, they have had thousands!!

Chris,

my MY00 siren bracket broke soon after i got the car (dunno how soon, 'cos it's not something that you check every day!).

Whatever they did is still working now (one year later).

replaced mine yesterday. 99MY with 20k miles. Got it free from the dealer and fitted it myself.

Ok,

Thanks for all the replies.

Will go down and see if I can get the
modified bracket - hopefully it'll be
stronger.

I've got it taped up at the moment to stop
it rattling against the bodywork.
Scared me to death when it was rattling as
thought the engine was on it's last legs...

Cheers
