I was wondering that too, no power mods by the looks of, also claims to be the only owner.

Nice JDM aero kit :)

Though good to check SVA imports documents as not easy for prvt individual to SVA a Spec C.

madisonmonkey 05 August 2009 08:42 PM

Saw this one yesterday. No mention of a re-map and we know what happens to C's run on jap maps over here don't we.....
Agree with Ricky, would be interesting to see if it's reg'd properly.
Also it's WRblue and everyone knows thats so 2003 eh budgie :D

Cyberevo 05 August 2009 09:04 PM

Spoke to the guy, it's covered 25k miles, he thinks it does not have to be registered as a spec c as it was a personal import and he has kept it for a certain length of time which makes him exempt:cry:

Car sounds fine but not registered correctly so if there was a smash insurance may not pay up.. Only had one service between 10k and 20k too.

M444GY 05 August 2009 09:06 PM

looks cheep cheep , nice though but wonder how many times its been rolled or stolen lol:D

Did you ask him what written on the log book, most Spec c's if not all are not registered correctly as the DVLA do not have the the model type on their system. You would think they would register all New ages as STI JDM or something.

Mine is registerd as a GL:D excellent for road tax purposes for now, (I'm with keith Micheals so no problem with insurancethey know what it is) not sure what some of the other lads have theirs as?

Did you ask him about the map and stuff? Also who has been looking after it and how? If it starts to tick all the boxes why not eh?

TonyBurns 06 August 2009 01:18 AM

My old one was registered as a WRX STI Spec C :D and you can quite happily run them on 99 ron fuel in the uk without them dying a death, the ECU adapts happily by lowering the power to compensate ;) mine did 22k miles without issues :D

Tony:)

madisonmonkey 06 August 2009 06:43 AM

Utaka's didn't last that long.....
Pretty sure mine's reg'd as a WRX STI spec C too

JonMc 06 August 2009 08:36 AM

Yeah, but it's WRB, common as muck and bound to bring the value down:D

Shiver 06 August 2009 08:44 AM

Just goes to show the difference between "cheap cars" and "good cars"...

rickya 06 August 2009 09:00 AM

I dont think it matters too much what it says on the log book, as long as it is correctly SVA'd & V5 is in order & most importantly insured correctly as a Spec C.

Also is that 25k miles i.e. 50k kms or 25k kms & then clock adjusted to read in miles?

10k miles between service is too much but if its in kms then may be ok?

Ideally better if its been mapped for UK fuel as its a bit of a risk running a Jap map. There have been the odd Jap map engine meltdowns!

Best thing about it is you can pick em up for just under 4k on a 04-05:thumb::thumb::thumb:

bpm1588 07 August 2009 12:37 AM

don't think i'd pay big money for a car that wasn't reg'ed correctly.my ra is only a gl on the tax book but i only paid 4k for it. as for this guys price if he's bought it himself new in japan maybe it's not standing him as much as say for talk's sake a litchfield car.hence it can move it on that bit cheaper
