SOLD

For sale MY97 STi which has been written off as a CAT C.

I bought it in April in absolutely mint condition and it only took 5 weeks for some idiot woman to rear end me and write the car off... I was stationary in traffic and she hit me from behind in to the car infront, hence the front and rear damage.

I've been quoted £1000 to repair it, but I really cant be bothered and would rather just buy another one. I have the repair quote for anyone that wishes to see it? But all inspections are welcome if you'd like to judge for yourselves :)

Apart from it needing a new rear bumper, it also needs a new bonnet and the rear panel needs replacing. The front panel needs pulling out slightly as well. And one of the front lights needs replacing. I believe the front bumper is repairable.

There is no damage to the floor of the boot or any other structural chassie damage.

The car has done 104,000kms and was running beautifully... it still drives perfectly dispite looking beaten up. The cam belt has also just been changed.

Mods:
MINES ecu
Organic clutch
Brand new Forge recirc dump valve
Hi flow rad (bought recently off SN group buy)
Zero Sport thermostat
Zero Sport grill
Zero Sport under scoop tray
22b bonnet vents
22b replica rear wing
Ver 6 front bumper
P1 splitter

I'm not selling it with the wheels and exhaust in the pics, it will have standard 16" STi gold wheels with half decent tyres on and a standard STi exhaust. I have also RE-tango'd the car so all clear indicators have been removed in the place of the orange standard ones.

Pics of the car literally weeks b4 and after pics of damaged areas...

strip it u will make more money

alex_00s 04 August 2009 07:55 PM

I know, but I've done that once before and as much fun as it was, I'd rather just let the whole thing go as a pre prepared project...

I got two quotes for repairs, £1000 and £1200 and to be honest I reckon that figure could be reduced if the parts were sourced on here b4 giving it to the repair guys...

I'd rather just get cash 2gether right now for a replacement car than invest more time and money in to this one in the hope I can sell it after...

I love them in white also... :D

Shame nice motor. TBH the only reason thats a cat C is its age. That kind of damage would probably go through the VIC test without needing a repair. I've seen people drive around with worse damage than that.

alex_00s 04 August 2009 10:56 PM

Its only a Cat C coz you know these insurers... they go by dealer prices for everything and also give the waffle that Subaru UK dont wanna know and everyting has to come from Japan...

Get this, the assessor told me the damages (as outlined above) would come to approx £5500... how ridiculous!

mr flipsone 05 August 2009 10:31 PM

have you bought it back off insurance company,or were you not fully comp?

Brett_555_Sti 05 August 2009 10:36 PM

Is it actually declared cat C on the V5?

timmy2take 06 August 2009 12:56 AM

If you do decide to break I've got £200 delivered for the front bumper + more for the splitter. Please PM me if you do break.

Thanks

Hi guys,

I'm trying my best to work thru all your pm's and questions in the limited time I have to go online at work...

I still have the original V5, however when I sell the car on the new V5 will come back with CAT C on it, I have a letter from the insurance company which I'm willing to show the original and give a copy to the buyer saying those exact words :thumb:

I've had a few ppl offer me the asking price so I'm going thru in order of who offered 1st to determine which person will actually come along with the cash and take the car.

Thank you all for your interest and I'll keep every1 updated on this thread until the car is sold.
