I've got some mew memory, exactly the same type as my current card. I put just it in and it doesn't work - do I have to change any settings anywhere or is it likely to be faulty memeory ?

DIMM 168 pin PC133 NP CL3 - I aready have 128 and this is 512.

Could be one of a number of things, faulty memory geing one. Check your motherboard manual for the spec of memory you require.

Also i would recomend buying RAM from somewhere like Crucial where you get a lifetime warranty.

I've used there products in several servers etc at work with no problems ever.

Sounds like it isn't seated properly, sometimes they need a firm push down if the slot hasn't been used before, also have you tried swapping the dimms around , so the 512 is in the current 128 slot ?

What mobo is it, mine wont support 512 k simms

Thanks for the replies.

If I try both together it gets to Windows loading and hangs, If I just put in the 512 in the original slot then I get nothing, just a black screen.

I don't know about the motherboard, it's a 1Ghz AMD and that's about all I know.

It's Crucial memory so I guess I'll just send it back to Dabs then.

I've had the same thing happen tonight.

Brought 256Mb from Dabs - slotted it in and it has not regestered on my system profile.

I'll take it out again tomorrow and try the above suggestions.

Does it boot at all or just blank screen, no beeps etc.?

It may not work in combination with your other chips so try on it's own if you haven't tried that already.
Maybe the motherboard can't handle a single 512Mb chip.
Have you got a manual for the motherboard?
