Build quality is identical. Availability of parts is identical. We can offer normal, inverted and, I believe, external reservoir 2 way adjustable damping kits.

What he said!! Would be interested in the difference.

Got BC's on the classic and was going to get a set for the newage but then you stopped doing them. Can I ask why that is?

We havent stopped doing the BC Racing kits, theyre still going great guns. I just cant do a group buy on them as it upsets our dealer network. However Im looking into a second alternative to go with the kits above :)

Bren, what's the lead time for one of the new sets? I've got a track day end of April - is there any chance of getting a set before then?

Pyrotechnic 18 March 2010 01:27 AM

I could well be very interested at that price...

To do them at that price they have to be brought by sea so 10 weeks from date of ordering. I can look at airfreighting individual kits but there would be a £90 surcharge to cover the additional costs.

We can now offer a second type of coilover unit. These are the same spec as the BC Racing units, are available in normal, inverted and external reservoir design. We can supply them with the same damping and spring rates as the BC Racing units. We can supply them with the same type of special rear spring as the BC Racing units. We can supply them with rubber, pillowball or camber adjustable rear top mounts. We can now offer them with camber AND castor adjustable front top mounts

Theyre branded as Apex, the same Apex kits that we have been selling for years now with thousands of sales to date.

All spare parts are available either from stock or within 8 working days. Same warranty as the BC Racing units.

They feature:

Adjustable spring platform
Ride height adjustable
Camber adjustable front pillowball top mounts
30 way damping adjustment
Bearing mounted upper front spring platform
etc etc

This is our Evo version, I dont have a pic of the Impreza version to hand:

https://www.scoobynet.com/attachment...1&d=1268913605

They retail at £679 for the normal kit with either rubber rear top mount or no rear top mount (you reuse the original) but with special rear springs.

The inverted kit retails at £899 and the external reservoir version £1249. The inverted kits come with the camber adjustable rear top mount upgrade by default and the external reservoir 2 way adjustable series come with camber rear top mounts AND the camber/castor rear top mounts with no extra charge.

You can spec the following upgrades:

Upgrade to camber AND castor front top mounts +£54.50
Upgrade to pillowball rear top mounts +£40.00
Upgrade to pillowball camber rear top mounts +£56.50
Rear damper adjuster extenders £24.50 a pair
Camber adjuster bolts £27.50 a pair

I can do 25% discount on the kit including any upgrades you choose for 10+ orders so the kit would come out at £509.25.

Carriage charges per kit

UK and NI
£10

Channel Islands
Republic of Ireland
Belgium
Netherlands
Luxembourg
France
Germany
Denmark

Italy
Spain
Portugal
Greece
£30

Rest of Europe

Picking the right kit to meet your needs

Below are suggested spring rates:

Standard WRX ride quality: GC8 = 4/3, New Age 5/4. 4/3 feature the softest damping of all with a longer stroke to accomodate the extra travel the softer set up allows.

Fast road with some track work (default road going spec, eets most peoples needs): GC8 5/4, New Age 6/5

Harder core fast road with track work using stickier track rubber: GC8 6/5, New Age 6/5

More track focused cars or really hardcore road car driven only on smooth roads: GC8 8/6, New Age 8/6

Henrik 18 March 2010 02:19 PM

Ok, so if I need them sooner than when we can get 10 people together, do I have to pay the full price, or the 510+90 shipping? I think I know the answer already, but don't ask don't get, eh? ;)

bren@apex 18 March 2010 03:17 PM

The discount is based on 10+ takers. The kits are superb value at £510 so I seriously doubt we wont get the numbers but if we dont get 10 people based on previous group buy numbers then I cant do the discount Im afraid.

Henrik 18 March 2010 04:19 PM

fair enough :)

Upgrade to camber AND castor front top mounts +£54.50
Upgrade to pillowball rear top mounts +£40.00
Upgrade to pillowball camber rear top mounts +£56.50
Camber adjuster bolts £27.50 a pair
This might be a stupid question, but suspension isn't my strong point, so: What performance benefit do the above options offer? I can kind of understand the camber and castor front top mounts, but what is that pillowball thing?

Would the above options complicate things for a novice such as myself in setting the things up, or are they "essential" choices?

RA Dunk 18 March 2010 05:36 PM

Whats the price of the external reservoir units

At a guess dunk, it would be £1249 - 25% (assuming there are 10 or more orders) so £936.75 plus postage (£10) :thumb:

Pillowball is just a more ridgid mount compared to rubber or the original rear top mounts. The more ridgid the top mount the less damper rod deflection you will get so youll have less rear alignment deflection.

Whether youd actually notice the difference in a road or even track car is debatable.

Yep :)

Ask Duncan Graham what he thinks of his 2 way adjustable external reservoir coilovers for independent opinion :)

Arch 18 March 2010 06:59 PM

I run the BC inverted dampers on my race RA and find them excellent so big thumbs up from me :thumb:

duncatr 19 March 2010 11:48 AM

Bren, don't take this the wrong way but are the Apex oilovers just re-branded BC items but with a way round the patent / copy right or something along those lines?
Are they made by the same people in the same factory or something?

Not that this would be a bad thing, it would actually be a very good thing.

Just that they looks pretty much identical to be honest other than the colour and possibly the top mounts although its hard to tell from the Evo kit pictured.

Also is Duncan running the Apex kit you are selling or the BC's? If they are not the same its not a true comparison to say Duncan runs the external resevoir items (BC's) when trying to sell the Apex items.

Might need to sell my BC's for these external resevoir items :)

Duncan runs the ER BC's

If BC Racing and the Apex coilovers were the same then I wouldnt be able to confirm due to contractual agreements.

RED2 23 March 2010 12:09 AM

Count me in too. Need them by May 30th though, so might have to look at the extra £90 :[

Pyrotechnic 26 March 2010 10:52 AM

Just a thought, you say it's an extra £90 to air-freight them, would it still be £90 each if there was a few of us wanting to do it?

RED2 26 March 2010 03:35 PM

come on bren we wont get to ten without a new thread :D
