Can anyone post pics of 355mm Discs with 4pots on 18" wheel?
Like to see what they look like? :D :D :D :D |
Hi Rayman,
I have this set up, with GT-1 Lite wheels in gold. Looks fantastic. I'll see what I can do over the next couple of days with some photos. Simon |
Hey Simon,
Do u have aftermarket 4 pots or the std STI 4 potters? Also are the discs 2 piece? Cheers Justin |
Hi Justin,
Aftermarket 4-pots, from Ian Godney at Godspeed. The disks are a two piece design - the middle bell being made of a different material from the actual disk. I'm sure Ian would be able to tell you more. I've taken some photos today. I'll get them developed tomorrow and scanned in ASAP. Cheers Simon |
Rayman,
whilst you're waiting here are my 335mm on 17" rims, should give you a bit of an idea about scale I guess? http://www.mattchurchill.pwp.blueyon...poiler%205.JPG http://www.mattchurchill.pwp.blueyon...Wheelafter.jpg Matt |
So now I know what they look like.
BUT are they any good as brakes ? |
Chris IMHO they are very good, especially when you compare them price-wise to say an AP kit. I think that an AP/Brembo kit is probably better, but it is twice as much though!
I've only ever had these and std on my car so cannot compare to say a Pagid set or anything else. But I am very hapoy with the choise, they give more feel and are very very good at stopping from high speed. There are a number of people on here that have them, and I cannot think of anyone who has been less than satsified with them. Matt |
A happy ( and living) user seems a good recommendation for a brake upgrade !
|
A happy user is all I needed
|
I know of unhappy ones... seriously
|
Claudius , You know of ONE unhappy user who bought a second hand pair of discs that had done a hell of a lot of track use , and when he had them they warped , he is unhappy because he bought them second hand he wasn't covered by the guarantee , Period ,
So do me a favour and keep your misinformed views to yourself !! Ian |
I said he is unhappy, and that's the truth! It's not misinformed.
|
Ian/Claudius please!
Let's not let this thread turn into a battle. [Edited by Paul Habgood - 3/13/2002 3:08:28 PM] |
matt AWESOME!!!! :D :D :D :D
|
Matt - I can, but not for open debate on here!!!!
Simon |
Most businesses would be proud of the reputation that Godspeed have, however there is bound to be one or two unhappy customers. Ian has to protect his business and we should respect that, and without the likes of him we would be paying large quantities of cash for sh1t standard parts.
I don't know if Ian has covered this, but discs bed into hubs etc, which is why you mark the orientation they come off in so they go back on the same way. So anyone complaining about second hand is way off the mark. Garry |
I'm "happy" with the Godspeed kit. As matt says, they do reduce your speed very quickly indeed apart from being one of the best looking kits around IMHO. These are the front and rear kit on 17' Superleggerras. Purely complimentary to Matt's pictures.

Oh, finally, Ian is an enthusiast and specialist who does his best in providing quality brake kits at very reasonable prices and I for one have been very happy with the service and discs. Jerome (No I'm not related nor am I on commission!) |
nice JFB :D :D :D :D
|
i have them and i think they are v good... not used on the track yet, but look the part and are very effective when you need them :)
|
JFB - nice looking kit, but get some Eibach's etc on for gods sake & get rid of that gap;)
btw - what size are those front discs ? shunty [Edited by shunty - 3/14/2002 9:04:18 AM] |
Hey guys,
Thinking of getting the 2 piece 335x32 vented & grooved Godspeed rotors for the front of my 1999 scooby & it's std sti 4 piston calipers, what are the Mintex M1144 pads that come with this kit like?? Cheers Justin Spargo |
Nice, so how much is the whole kit just for the front?
Disk, pads, calipers, hoses? And did it increase your insurance premium? Even though you would think it should be cheaper - ie stopping before crashing! |
It's around 560 pounds, for the 335x32 discs, alloy bells, brackets, fitting kit, & the Mintex M1144 pads. I want to retain my std calipers.
Anyone got this kit?? How are these Mintex M1144 pads that come with this kit?? Cheers Justin |
Justin, the 1144 pads are very good for the road. If you want something hotter for track days, it's the 1155 you want. They are very popular over here.
Richard. |
Cheers Richard :D
Justin |
How was the fitting?
|
Thanks Rayman,
Shunty, the ride is hard enough without lowering the suspension - I have rattles everywhere and anyway I had an occasional rubbing under the rear wheel arches when full and pressing on out of corners etc. It's a family wagon you know! Oh 335mm discs on front. I started with the hard compound Mintex pads and they squealed like bu99ery so Ian sent me a softer kevlar compound which IMHO improved the stopping power and responsiveness dramatically. I was not braking hard enough to remove the glaze that built up on the mintex pads! I dont think the upgrade cost any extra on my insurance but they did note it though. Cheers Jerome [Edited by JFB - 3/14/2002 7:08:37 PM] |
KFB - I must admit my ride is very hard with the eibach's on, escpecially with the bumpy, uneven roads in West Yorks:eek:
I have just replaced my front pads with DS3000 but after ordering them I have found out that they are very hard compound & are really only for track use. I also suffered from really bad squealing & maybe should have gone for a soft compound like you have done. shunty |
JFB have got pics of the whole scooby?
:D :D :D :D |
For Rayman, the picture uploadt thing is tempermental so hopefully this will work
