iPhone Push Notification (Google Apps?)

Is it possible to be notified of email receipt from my Google Apps mail account on my iPhone?

Google apps email works in the same way as Gmail on the iPhone, not quite sure what you're asking for.

My phone isn't here until tomorrow. Can I set up email notification alerts? Like on a BlackBerry?

You can set it to go fetch your mail every 15 mins, if you've got new mail it'll beep and show how many new emails you have on the bottom of the screen, if that's what you're asking (probably not lol)

It would appear that the app GPush should be able to do this. Anyone used it?

Neanderthal 27 July 2009 10:22 PM

Nope wasn't aware of it. I'll go have a look at the app.

Edit: can't find that app mate. Is it for the iPhone or pc?

Not sure if it's been accepted by Apple yet; would be nice if so :)

Not sure i would use an app that takes your email onto someone elses server to then forward onto you.
Im sure it will be popular enough but doesnt sound overly safe.

Fetch (as opposed to push) is usually enough for most.
I have push on my exchange account in work and ended up turning it off for fetch every hour or manual fetch when you go into your app when you get the chance.

Manual fetch also saves battery life

It would only be for occasional use; when I need almost instant email notification.

I think yahoo supports push so you could set up an account on there, set your gmail to coward to yahoo then it'll be pushed?
