Restoring my red Scoobs luster?
Hi all, I've read PBs excellent cleaning guide for mid tone solid paints and I've done a virtual shop on the website :lol1: my question/query is regarding restoring the luster of the solid red paint. My car is a 53 plate and whilst I take care to regularly clean it using poor boys super slick suds (almost used it up now!) and when I have the time, I apply my 5 year old swissol wax but to be honest it takes me so long to do I probably only ever do it once a year.
I've started to notice that the roof and top of the boot are starting to look faded. What can I do to restore the colour? Years ago I would have gone out and bought a bottle of T-cut and made it worse lol Matt |
Try a clay bar, followed by a decent polish., AG is great stuff if applying by hand. Top it off with a decent wax. Collinite I find works well on red. Bob

Cheers Bob. I would have had a go with the clay bar today but everytime I thought about going out the heavens opened!

Menzerna 203S followed by the Werkstat Carnauba Kit would be an ideal way to proceed, as this will remove the oxidation and maximise the richness and glossiness of the finish. See here for a more in-depth overview...

Cheers :D
Just ordered some (along with a foam gun and a couple of other things :lol1: ) |
Finally had a day available to do it, work and weather permitting (and I still had to stop cause of a couple of showers  )
Tried the snow foam with Megs hyper wash, not sure if I was using it right as the foam was coming out of the front nozzle, the adjuster on the top and the karcher connection!? but mostly out the nozzle :lol1: http://img150.imageshack.us/img150/6707/snowj.th.jpg Proceedure I used was Snow foam Rinse Wash with Poorboys car shampoo Rinse Snow foam (for no other reason than I wanted another go on it :thumb: ) Rinse Clayed using Megs Quik Clay Kit Menzerna 203S applied by hand using a Lake Country light cut (orange) pad, initial worries about how hard I could work this by hand were unfounded. I thought it worked fine, although I wasn't trying to acheive heavy correction. Finally a coat of Swissol Shield wax, which after 5 years I'm still only down to half a pot with :lol1: Main aim was to restore the deep shine on the horiztonal panels and wing mirrors. Nice turnaround! Regarding the foam lance, sounds like the connections are loose - try nipping them all tight with an adjustable spanner, and then let me know if you have any further problems. Always welcome with the advice, it's what we are here for! :thumb:
