McRae V limited

Hiya

Can anyone tell me a bit more about the V limited model ,

Were they only uk cars , or were there imports too ?

How many were made ?

There is one local to me for sale but I think its a replica

Any other ways to identify it ??

Cheers

Anna

200 Series McCrae were made in late1995 - not too sure if they were badged as V ltd too, as the Vltd seem to be imports:wonder: Prob an import with McCrae badging. The car should have a numbered plate inside the cockpit with the edition number on it.

when i had mine, it was no 84, it was badged on the back of the boot with a special edition badge.i dont ever recall it having a plaque in the cockpit.

Series Mcrae is a UK only car ...your's is an STi Type RA v-limited, common mistake to get them confused due to the Mcrae signature seats

Rally fan 555 23 July 2009 10:28 AM

I'd not seen a vltd one like that the one I went to see a series McCrae years ago was based on a UK 2000 I'm sure, with McCrae badging and a special blue paintjob with gold speedlines:wonder: I think that they made 200 Series Mcrae, the pictured one was a run of 555 by the look of the badge:wonder::wonder::wonder: Someone on here prob has one

UK Special Editions

Series McRae

In June 1995, to celebrate their winning of both the manufacturers and drivers World Rally Championship titles, Subaru in the UK released a limited edition run of two hundred cars (numbered 1 to 201 - no number 13!) prepared by Prodrive going by the name of the Series McRae. The main improvements over the standard model are:
  • Special mica blue paintwork
  • 6.5 x 16 inch eight spoke gold Speedline Safari alloy wheels
  • Pirelli P Zero 205/50 ZR 16 low profile tyres
  • Recaro sports front seats with open headrests and Series McRae motifs
  • All seats (front and back) and door panelling retrimmed in Le Mans/Avus material
  • Factory fitted electric tilt and slide sunroof
  • Interior numbered Series McRae plaque
  • Side and rear Series McRae decals
On the road price was £22,999

This is the car is question

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ah6RxQ41Q2s

Can anyone confirm what the car actually is and could anyone put a estimated price of what its worth.

The MOT has lasped , it needs a set of discs front and back but that should be about it .

The body is tidy as is the interior.

Its got 112,000 miles on it and it drives well.

Thanks in advance

Looks like a V2 WRX/ WRX RA ltd/V-ltd to me ...as colour looks like 53C rather than Mica Blue. ...& i'd say it's a WRX rather than WRX RA due to it having side skirts

It's not an STi RA or 555 (no roof vent) ...have you got the chassis no.? that'll tell you exactly what it is

As for value, I'm not too sure, i'd say a mint low mileage V2 STi RA ltd/ 555 will fetch £4K tops ...so £3-3.5K? might even be less in the current climate

g7prs 23 July 2009 12:33 PM

The other thing is the aerial, its on the rear wing. I thought the ra's had them on the front roof pillar?

Rally fan 555 23 July 2009 12:56 PM

WRX import would also have rear wiper fitted plus fog light mounted somewhere unless the owner had put a fog bulb in the drivers side reverse light hole in the rear light, RA's prob would not have the rear wiper though, as they were a stripped version, but the car certainly has WRX logo on the rear denoting an import not UK 2K

Ms Anna 23 July 2009 01:01 PM

I think it prob just a wrx import :) its got the rear wiper and seperate fog lamp.

Its suppose to be v limted number 553 but that means nothing to me..

Sorry guys Im blonde :D what can I say lol

widdows 23 July 2009 02:04 PM

its the same car as mine, its called a wrx vlimited. it has the 53c colour which is the 555 blue. supposed to have the v2 sti engine and a shorter ratio gearbox.
should also have the same motif stiched into the front seats as the one on the rear of the car.
They all came with aircon and all other electrics as far as im aware.

Im sure it was someone on here who helped me identify mine when I bought it.

This one.......

Thats the one shaun I think the one on the left is the vltd and the one on the right is the 555 version with the roof vent

djmisio85 24 July 2009 02:30 AM

So, what model is this in the end?

There seem to be many variants which fall into this category....

The one on the right in the picture above seems to have the antenna on the A-pillar, so its not a mcrae version (because they have the antenna at the back), so it appears to be an RA 555 sti

So far, there seem to be:

Mcrae version with vent and antenna at back

On the japanese used add, there are some with high rise spoilers (ie version 2 height) and some with low rise spoilers (ie wrx height)

Some with roof vents, others without

Some with antennas at the front, some at the back

But all the same colour:wonder:

Does the colin mcrae version have dccd ????

By the looks of it the ones in Shaun's pic are (on the left) a V2 WRX Vltd (53C paint, colour coded skirts & mirrors) no roof vent ...& the one on the right a V2 WRX STi RA Vltd (53C paint, roof vent, no side skirts & no colour coding)

A '555' looks like this...

Note the 'safari' alloy's, roof vent, side skirts & colour coding

I reckon someone should take these rare ltd brochures to a printers & get some copies made up ...I'd buy one!

djmisio85 24 July 2009 08:53 AM

So I guess from reading those articles, we can assume that the car in question (Anna's car) is simply a WRX V-limited? (ie no roof vent and antenna at the back)

The other 2 cars in the article, there appear to be 2 variants, one is an WRX type RA v limited (with antenna on the A-pillar and a roof vent) and the other being and STi version 2 v limited (with antenna at the back and a roof vent)

(whether the WRX type RA is an STi or not, I dont know)

Midlife...... 24 July 2009 05:53 PM

There were only 2 cars in this particular v-limited range

WRX V-Limited

WRX type RA STi Ver II V-Limited

Both of which are in the pic lifted from Brian Long's Book :)

Shaun

djmisio85 25 July 2009 01:14 AM

See, this is where I get confused....

Ok, in the article, there are 2 cars, a WRX V-Limited (antenna at the back and no roof vent), and a WRX STi V-Limited Type RA (antenna on the drivers side A-Pillar and a roof vent)

In Japan, they also appear to have a V-limited STi (not type RA), but it has a roof scoop, and the antenna is at the back..... these were also limited to a run of 555 cars....

g7prs 25 July 2009 09:06 AM

The V-limited STi ( non ra ) was the version three. According to the book i have there were 555 saloons and 555 wagons made. They came with roof vent, logo's on the seats, green tinted glass and the number on the boot lid.

Midlife...... 25 July 2009 02:34 PM

The V stands for "Victory"........every time Subaru won something they brought out a "V-Limited" edition.

So there are loads of different models, somewhere on SN there is a list of all the various sorts of impreza and the list is in the hundreds LOL

These ran for about 10 years, if memory serves me the last V-Limited edition was a blobeye.
