Misting after de-ambering
 

My `05 Blobeye headlamps are misting on the outer sides after raining, this disappears as soon as headlamps are switched on but looks a little unsightly. I have re-sealed the whole way around so there are no obvious ingress spots. Would it hurt to drill a small pinhole in the main light cover to let any trapped moisture out or would a sachet of silica gel inside help? Any help appreciated guys! Cheers Mark.

Surely drilling a hole would cause more moisture to enter the headlight?

Just make sure the headlight is fully re-sealed, that's all that is needed. If it's still doing it, seal it again. Good luck mate.

Take light off the car. Meanwhile, heat the silica gel to 110 degrees C in your oven on a clean baking tray for ten minutes. Remove bulb holder and place sg in headlight, place whole lot in airing cupboard, on top of boiler etc overnight.

Remove sg with tweezers being careful not to tear packet;)

If there is still any condensation, recharge sg as above, but before placing it in headlight, warm front glass/plastic with hairdryer etc until the cond disappears, THEN insert sg and leave in warm place again.

Just done this with a s/h rear light I bought off e-bay, it was filthy, but washing it managed to get water in:rolleyes:
