Anybody work offshore in oil or gas ?

Thinking of getting into the Industry. I'm doing a Ultrasonic Testing course at the The Welding Institute in Middlesborough next month.

Just wondered what people's experience's of the industry are

Thanks in advance

Why offshore ? There are many more opportunities to be had without going offshore. Get yourself a full SPI ticket and go work abroad on the pipelines where you can earn really good money.

I haven't got a job lined up at the moment but my i have a few friends that work in the industry.

I don't have a background in the industry but over the last 2 years i have been re-training 2 nights a week as a welder and have just passed my NVQ Level 3 in technical welding.

The course with the training the extra training exam package has cost me £2300 and at the end of it i will have PCN level 2 in ultrasonic testing of welds.
