20G on a 2.5 what kind of figures?

my car is currently been run in by engine tuner its a ver 4 sti type r with a built 2.5, i had my 20G previously on a 2litre build and it made 419/379 with 10% meth. i have full suporting mods and im going for a engine tuner S206 once i get used to that power again which proberly mean end of the month.

what kind of figures are people getting from 20G on a 2.5 and where in the rev range are they getting full boost??

bunsofsteeeel 17 July 2009 01:56 PM

i would have said more torque but the power fiqure would stay about the same with a 20g

Mus 17 July 2009 07:19 PM

more torque sounds like more fun that would be great for a few weeks i guess ill proberly take a trip to the strip to see if i can get a quicker time than last time..

banny sti 17 July 2009 07:22 PM

I would guesstimate around 380 bhp with 400+ torque. The turbo will probably be out of puff by 6.5k rpm, I would think full boost should be at around 3k rpm.

Mates car;

434bhp and 388lb/ft in a Type R

TyneTeesScoobies :: Garage

Lashed him 5 times at SSO last year. :D

RA Dunk 17 July 2009 09:18 PM

434 from a 20G is a very healthy figure, i presume this was with some fuel additives?

Mus 17 July 2009 10:30 PM

434bhp bloody hell thats bloody good but im sure his using meth 388lb/ft is 8 more than i had on my previous 2 liter build.

full boost at 3k sounds the nuts

mickywrx 18 July 2009 09:10 AM

Just on V-Power I beleive. It was on the ragged edge of standard pistons though, and let go a couple of weeks ago :(

To be fair, he knew it was on borrowed time.

RA Dunk 18 July 2009 11:49 AM

getting 434 of out a 20g on standard fuel is pretty f,ing good TBH, it must have been mapped to whithin an inch of its life

Mus 18 July 2009 12:08 PM

434 on standard fuel chuck in a bit of meth and that should surpass andyF 440bhp when he had the 20G lol you sure it wasnt some dodgey rollers?

mickywrx 18 July 2009 05:02 PM

Same rollers as mine made 330.

From what I have seen on this forum, 22b.com and nasioc 20G's on E257's seem to make less power than what they do on 2.0/2.1's however they make alot more torque, every single one is producing more than 400lbsft

thats because they spool-up earlier on the 2.5 and are unable to to sustain thru to give the high bhp. It would need a quality turbo to do both

On straight petrol and a representative rolling road this turbo was never likely to do 434 bhp. Incidentally the car in question was also running "ported O/E headers". Comparing claimed turbo output figures on different rolling roads, on different days, without absolute knowledge of the fuel and boost in use is rather pointless.
There have been some spectacular headline figures in the past but the current crop of 05-06 20G turbos often struggle to make 380 bhp, sometimes a good bit less and 380-400 bhp on V-Power plus NF is a good one which is beyond the reach of most. Unfortunately there are many disappointed owners of these turbos.

I wouldn't say that from what I experienced. When fitted with a wing mount intake my std 2.5 was hitting 380 hp (Zen RR) @ 1.4 bar on a 20g and running out of revs before a power peak was reached:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v1...R_191008-1.jpg

Since then, the intake was found to be faulty and letting random air flow past the MAF mount, so its gone back to a std air box with snorkelectomy (& remap).
It now struggles to 355 hp (Zen RR again) while showing a definite power peak curve, so a decent intake will now be sourced and normal service hopefully resumed.

ki8llr your funny dont worry me and you will do some testing thats for sure lol nice graph matey

happydude303 23 July 2009 01:14 PM

20g should make 380 390 bhp but then rollers will make different power so as long as it feels good and feels faster then job done

finchyboy 23 July 2009 02:18 PM

Pat Holborn mapped my 2.5 although it's never been on the rollers he thought it was somewhere in the region of 400 400 it make's for an incredible road car !! It really is very very quick point to point !!!
