Exhausts, noise / performance

Guys i have just put a Blitz nur spec R on my WRX an its silly loud, i love the noise but think its gonna have to go.

My question is what is the next best jap built cat back thats quieter and where can i get them?

If anyone has a good exhaust, is close to Leeds and wouldb interested in a swap i'll consider anything!! WHY?

powerwrx 16 July 2009 03:56 PM

jee's mate, that was quick...you not like it?

Murph86 16 July 2009 04:14 PM

I love it its just abit loud for me, im after something similar to look at and performance wise but quieter. so i can hold a conversation in te car ha ha!

joz8968 16 July 2009 04:39 PM

I think JASMA-marked Jap exhuasts are one of the quietest for a Scoob.

I had one on when the car was first bought and it was very quiet (relatively speaking) indeed.

I now have a Cobra which is loud, but not mentally so.

Murph86 16 July 2009 04:41 PM

I dont want anything too quiet either, i want the nice scooby rumble but the spec R is taking the p*ss!

Impreza Turbo 1993-2000 Classic : Subaru Impreza Racebox Performance Exhaust System

Impreza Turbo 1993-2000 Classic : Subaru Impreza Hayward and Scott Performance Exhaust

These are pretty quiet when not boosting and at steady speeds, I think.

But they make a pleasing amount of volume when hooning (but not stupidly so).

I had this conversation with Paul @ Zen yesterday when discussing my build. Car will be circa 600bhp when finished. I had a Blitz NUR Spec R and it would be way too noisy for track days etc.

He recommended either Miltek or Jetex.

Murph86 16 July 2009 04:55 PM

whats the difference btween the nur spec R & S?

are he Milteks anygood, wasa tread on hearyesterday saying there crap!

powerwrx 16 July 2009 05:09 PM

the S mates with your standard centre sectio 2.5" the R is the 3" system narrowing to 2.5" at the downpipe. ide say the noise will be the same

looking at the miltek in the thread ide not buy one

Murph86 16 July 2009 05:14 PM

Yeah there my thoughts on the miltek, even before i started this thread i was thinking of the Scoobyworld catbck package with ninja 2 backbox so it looks like im just gonna get that one!

powerwrx 16 July 2009 05:21 PM

looks a good deal that one mate

Murph86 16 July 2009 05:50 PM

I think so, just not sure on noise? we'll see!

powerwrx 16 July 2009 05:56 PM

YouTube - Subaru Impreza STI Exhaust

not the best vid but this is the ninja 2

Murph86 16 July 2009 06:07 PM

Thats perfect mate, it doesn't sound too loud, i forgot but i watched that video the other day, if steve doesn't have anything i like then my Spec R will be for sale at £300 so i can but the ninja 2

powerwrx 16 July 2009 06:25 PM

nice one mate, put it in the forsale section

Murph86 16 July 2009 09:28 PM

I cant im a non paying member! If i dont get anything tomorrow i'll ask someone to puti in for me!

rickya 17 July 2009 06:13 PM

Id go for to H&S & get them to build one to ypur spec in terms of high flowing & decibel range. Failing that go for something like a HKS Silent power or a Genome & modify it to 3".

ps most Scoobyworld / Ninja etc are made by H&S.

MY1STSCOOBY 17 July 2009 06:23 PM

i gotta 4" scorpion japstyle with 3" stainless mid section and a japspeed full de-cat,

when ticking over sounds very deep and subtle but when you give it the beans it roars! wasnt to sure when i first got it fitted but now im use to it i like it,

specialy like the bobbles, pops and bangs that come out the end.

Murph86 18 July 2009 11:06 AM

How much did you pay for all that mate and where from if you dont mind me asking?

H&S i'm guessing they have a website? might give them a call.

I put the bung in yesterday and went for a drive and it sounds perfect, nice and subtle but still roars when you give i some!

MY1STSCOOBY 18 July 2009 12:22 PM

brought the de=cat off a mate for £50 the backbox cost me £250 and the mid section was £100.

didnt get them from the same places bit of a mix bag:thumb:

Murph86 18 July 2009 03:08 PM

Cool, well my local tuner called today an said he had something for me but he didn't say what, i think its a De-cat system though as he said thats all he's got. im going up on monday and if i dont like it then mine will b for sale and ill look into my options!

Thanks everyone for your replies, fr a noob there most helpfull!!!!
