Picture Request - Cabin Fire Extinguishers
Hi all! Apologies if this post is in the wrong forum (it seemed more applicable to the gallery than anywhere else), but I wonder if I can trouble you all with a picture request? I'm looking to put a fire extinguisher in the cabin of my Scoob (2005 STi Type UK) and I'm debating where exactly to fit it.
I was initially planning to rip off the rather nifty bracket I've seen elsewhere on this forum (Frayz's handiwork I believe?) but, having had a look at the seats in my car, even with the passenger seat fully back, there isn't enough clearance for the bracket and the extinguisher. So if you have one mounted elsewhere please show me a picture of how you've done it. My aim is to fit one making the minimum number of holes in the trim - though none would be best! :D Thanks! |
bump for this.
im on the look for one, so if anyone has any pointers let me know |
im to also on look out:)

right i have got 1 in the car not fitted yet.
the effort is shame ful im going to place my bracket betweel the front two blols that hold the pasenget seat on ive seen this i will have a look see if i can find |
|
There's quite a bit of space around the front seat, I can get my seat fully forwards and rearwards

cool, im thinking a carbon flamebeater should look well
so is it a powder one i need? lol dont want one for show and then not be able to use it or for it to make the fire worse. cheers |
|
Think im gunna go buy one of these, for what they cost i think id be more than welcome too see if if ever i needed it.
|
no one got it on the passenger side a pillar?
|
FYI, I wouldn't have a flamebeater in the car, their no where near large enough to be of any use.
Having used 1 (not on a car I might add) it wasn't enough, better than nothing, but I think the expression is pi55ing in the wind its apt. I still needed a v12 powered extinguisher to get the job done. I'm looking into 1kgs and bigger. My problem is mounting it, I have an MY09 and to do the front seat mount would turn it into a fixed seat. You wouldn't be able to move the seat forward, although if there is enough space in the drivers foot well, can't see that being a problem. |
Same position as most:-
http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1.../update009.jpg I too thought the seat movement would be a pain, but if your careful with measurements and the placenment of the bottle it can still done. |
Mine is cable tied to the passenger seat and I carry a spare in the boot :)

Here's mine, made the bracket myself from some metal brackets I picked up in the hardware shop.

cool loving those. so what size and style extinguisher would be the best for a car and that would also fit under the passenger seta with no problems.. i want the peace of mind of knowing it'll be enough for a car fire..?
|
I wouldn't go with less than the size I have and thats a 2ltr. There is nothing in smaller ones if you actually had to use it, plus like I said I also carry another 2ltr in the boot :D
