Car not starting - just buzzing...
 

I was washing the car today and was listening to some tunes on the CD player - and then the car died.

Tried turning the ignition key and it just buzzes and all the lights light up on the dash (battery, oil, handbrake, engine management). My immobiliser still works though.

I've checked under the bonnet and it is dry as a bone as is the MAF and air filter.

Is this a flat battery or something else?

just the same as leaving ure lights on overnite come out battery dead

The buzzing is probably the starter solenoid trying to engage - if there isnt enough voltage on the battery to get it to switch, but there is some ( so the dash lights will still come on ) it can do this.

Just charge up the battery and you should be fine

Also check battery terminals are making a good connection.

Thanks guys - I was a little scared then with the buzzing.

It seems you are right - just tried turning the ignition again and it tried to start up this time for a few seconds and then returned to buzzing.

Will jump start the car as soon as my brother gets home as he has the jump leads.:thumb:
