New alloys (Rota Tarmac Gra II)...

Well after weeks of deciding and annoying the heck out of fellow DW members - I finally plumped for some new alloys on Saturday (travelled 80 miles to Scoobyparts in Bedfordshire) and got these Rota Tarmac Gra 18" in Silver Grey. The alloys weigh just 5.6kg each.

Fitting was a major problem as the old bolts had no thread on them so it was a case of getting someone with an adjustable socket set to get them off. However, I have to wait for some new nuts in silver (coming Tuesday) so the rusty ones are back on for the time being.:(

A very close fit to the Brembos - there is probably a 3mm gap there at most!!!

The front badge is cracked and I have a new one to go on plus the number plate is to be screwed on.

And a few swirls for good measure - not too bad and will be fully corrected and detailed later this week.

excellent choice of wheels if i do say so myself

Your car is a 2004 model is that right, but its on a 55plate?, is it just a late registration car?.

Should them wheels be that close to the calipers on the front?

I don't know - I always thought it was a 2005 model.

These Rota Tarmac Gra are designed to be fitted with the large Brembos on Scoobys. They do seem incredibly close though - although others with the same alloys also say they are close to the calipers.

05 model should be wide track i.e. have the rear arch extensions

Looking nice and wheels are a good choice.

Thats the part I was looking at, the arch extensions, yeah prob registered in 05 hence the plate. Dont want to piss u off atall there, not my style, but as the wheels are so close to the calipers are they the right off set for your year of car?

All im saying is should you confirm this before driving 1000's more miles.

aswell as the arch extensions, the other visual differences are the hand brake boot/cover is leather instead of a rubber flap.

Please dont get the wrong idea of what im saying, just want them to be right for you!.

The gap between the caliper and the alloy is the same as my rota's on the P1 with new age Brembo's fitted.
Nice and snug ;)

Ive got the same wheels on Hatch S-GT with the big Brembo's, & they have the same clearence, as stated these wheels are intended for the Brembo's,Ive had no problems, & they have done 10,000 miles now.

Nice!

Great choice of wheel, really suits your car.

Do the Brembos fit under 17" as well or do they have to be 18"?

Dan
