sinse having bc coilovers,rear arb,rear droplinks,roll centre kit,anti lift kit fitted and geometry done i have noticed every time i put proper braking on for first time in morning say,i get a clunk from front and sometimes rear,its as if somthing is settling back in place,once its happend its not till next day that it will happen again,sometimes will hapen a few times in same day,is this normal? car is 02 sti,with new disks and ferrodo ds2500 pads,wasnt making this noise before,any help please.:thumb:

any ideas anyone

Sounds like it could be the pads. I get it from my Alcons.
Its just the pads settling into place.
Just my opinion.

i am so glad you said that as this is what i was thinking and noticed that when parked up the ds2500 pads have very slight play or movement and i thought it could be the pistons pushing them into place for first time in morning,cheers bud.

Pad Shims probably, I have same thing

The BC's with solid top mounts will transmit more noises into the cabin, noises that may have been around for a while. Like my lose front hub nut, not noticed it until I fitted the BC's. Pads sounds very likely though.

its all about learning me thinks,when you decide to tune an sti as we have you dont realise these things will happen and im just paranoid with somthing gonna go wrong when both of my subarus ive owned have been the most reliable cars ive ever had,and i have had many cars.thanks for putting my mind at rest.

You should try going on track with one....

Blyton on Saturday.

1. Got an nice easy corner wrong, went off circuit mud launches car into the air and steering wheel starts shaking.... damaged rim or bent steering ?

2. Pit to find the wheel rim packed with soil ! Remove soil and back out !

3. One lap later knock, knock, knock. CV or front diff gone ? No I managed to loosen all the front nearside wheel nuts in 1. see above.

4. Pit to re-tighten and continue.

5. Relax and put plastic back in the wallet - for now !

as above- is this a road car that you do the odd track day or your ,daily drive,i couldnt cope doing that to my baby mate,if i get a squeek from it i ****e myself lol.

No room for a toy, so it has to do both duties.

Apart from an (almost) invisible mark on one rim and a barely visible bumper scuff, from an 85 mph head-butt of a cone :eek: she's fit for another go, except that I now need to use low grip tyres to avoid fuel surge at 1/2 a tank.....
