Likewise. I always took my Turbo 2 to the same tester. Always got the boss to do the check. He was a mate of my Dad's and we always took our old cars to his place for the MOT.

I must have used him 15 times: never once failed my car. He knew I didn't use it much each year (anything from 500 - 2000 miles max), so there really wasn't much wear and tear to worry about.

He also always let me do the "driving". This helped because if there were any dodgy light switches for example (1984 French car, don't forget), I used to be able to wiggle them to make them work and I really used to stamp on the brake pedal and yank hard on the handbrake for the brake tester!

It also saved me having to fork out for a (very rare) new windscreen. There was a borderline stone chip right in the driver's eyeline, but because he never once sat in the car, he never spotted it in all those years! :lol1:

He did a good job though: if he thought something would need doing, he'd just ask me off the record to get it done before next year's visit. :thumb:

I would rather a thorough MOT than a 'friendly' one ..... I want to know if something is not right.
