what turbo for 350-370?

just would like to which is the best turbo to go for that makes anything between 350-370 which has the most midrange?

IainMilford 15 June 2009 03:52 PM

td05-18g will see you comfortably in that bracket, the 20g will be 370 - 400bhp

KAS35RSTI 15 June 2009 04:21 PM

i see but a vf35 would struggle with 350?

Aztec Performance Ltd 15 June 2009 04:25 PM

Is that what you have currently?

KAS35RSTI 15 June 2009 04:58 PM

No bob. currently have a vf23, but i also have a vf35 which is not fitted. after doing some research i see the vf35 would not make the power i am after. however i have heard that the vf35 is really good in spool up even better than the 18g. i was thinking of 660cc's for more head room.

KAS35RSTI 15 June 2009 05:11 PM

ok lets forget the figures for a second. do you know what i really want, i want a good strong setup that pulls really well through the revs which i and the passenger can feel!!

stevie1982 15 June 2009 05:20 PM

my p1 at 320'ish bhp pulls from the start but does start to drop off towards the end of the range, any friends who get in the car think it pulls like a train but i have got used to it.
now if you wanted something a little more special and have say 10-15k to spend you could go with a 2.5.ltr conversion, md321t+ and all the supporting mods ie injectors fmic, oil cooler, possible 6 speed box etc etc and have 450-480bhp

so

what car do you have model / year?
with what current mods?
how much money do you have to spend?

if you can tell people that it will help as there are so many options and a little more detail would be need to help suggest the best option for you.

regards steve

what car do you have model / year?

1997 V3 STi standard ej20 with forged pistons

with what current mods?

vf23, 440cc, 3inch exhaust, blitz cone filter, fmic, pfc, apexi avcr

how much money do you have to spend?

have loads of money, but i prefer to test out the limits of the standard block until it goes KA-POW!!

Been told that vf34, full decat, hi-flow air filter, FMIC, 550cc inj., and ecutec remap should see standard upto 350bhp, however, gearbox probably wont last! If you want more then you gotta think about upgrading internals of engine.

Or you could rip out the engine stick a 2.1 forged stroker engine in with the Turbo Technics S206, simtec managment system, FMIC and injectors. Quoted just over £7800 inc vat all in and fitted. This will see 450BHP safely

You might need to add a gearbox and clutch to that price as well.

Oh, clutch and gearbox too. LOL

I'd go for a 6spd conversion.

KAS35RSTI 15 June 2009 06:35 PM

later setup is going to be a 2.5 block with forged internals and a nitrated crank. follwed with a gt30 or maybe the md321h. in the mean while i believe the sti3 engine can easily cope with about 380 with supporting mods. therefore i have to test it out :norty:

Anger 15 June 2009 06:44 PM

Might as well fit a MD321H now then :D

would like to try different setup up's. bolting on the MD321H on the standard block will maybe increase lag. beautiful turbo though :luvlove:

stevie1982 15 June 2009 08:32 PM

If I were you I would pop a set of 550's, simtec, fuel pressure reg, and a 321h. I don't think spool will be a problem but this will put your engine and box to it's limits it may last a day it may last till you decide to sell up. You will need a new clutch though. Should see you around the 400 mark
