not impressed with my cosworth billet timing belt guide,
 

got hold of one of these for my classic as mine is a early car and never had any mounting lugs on the old oil pump,but now with my new engine i brought one of these to fit,it says to fit it .040" to .050" away from the belt,when i bolted it on the max setting i could get was .012" which is nowhere near the distance that they say to set it too,i have drilled the holes out bigger and the max i can get now is .023" and this is as far as i can go as the body of the guide is starting to touch the crank sensor,i have gaped it even all the way round and the belt shouldnt move up to be fair but there is no way that you could set it to what cosworth say,i did think it may have been a bit better than this to be honest,as this is surpose to be a quality product,anyone else had this when fitting one,

I think the kevlar belt is slightly thicker..

I don't think you should hav e an issue with that clearance..

thought it may have been,well i drilled the holes out slightley to give me a bit more clearance which has worked,think they should state this mind when anyone is buying one

think they should look into making two types,one for standared belt and one for the thicker type belt

or use a genuine subaru one, did you know that the auto's don't have it

early classics dont have it either,as theres no mounting lugs on the early oil pumps,went for the stronger belt for piece of mind and wont need changing so soon,my car runs around 350bhp and has a good blast now and again,so thought it wound'nt hurt fitting one,and that the sti 8 bottom end i have fitted came with a new later type oil pump with the lugs,
