Is corner weighting worth it??
 

Hi There,

This is a bit of a precursor thread to recieving some new BC coilovers soon ish.

Most places it seems offer only alignment. i.e. toe n camber, but some also offer corner weighting.

Is it worth paying that extra for the corner weighting too?

I would like to sort the setup myself with a few tools which are available relativly cheaply. That way i can change the setup as i see fit. i.e. dial more camber in for the track.

You can get corner weighting gauges too, but for my price budget its going to take AGES to get the corner weighting right.

Perhaps i should get a one off aligntment/weighting done, then if i want to change camber thereafter i can do so with my own bits n bobs.

So what do you rekon?

whereabouts in Berkshire are you? I work for a company, in Berkshire, that makes corner weights, might be able to lend you a set :)

IMHO it is worth it, and as you say if you limit your meddling to camber adjustment, it should stay as set.

Do you do a lot of road mileage ? 'Cos I've just set it up, and will live with it.

I try not to do much road driving. Probably 1 trip a week to work and a blast or two on the weekends.

Im getting fully adjustable top mounts so was gonna run some mean camber on track with some second hand slicks.

Would want to revert it back for the couple of months in between track events to something more tyre friendly.

250 quid is a lot of wedge i dont really want to pay. Is there not a normal way to get the corner weighting good enough without either a 250 quid setup of 150 quid piece of equipment?

For a camber/castor gauge its about 50 quid which should be good enough. Corner weighting gauge is 150 but can only weight one corner at once. Hoping Toe will remain close enough correct, even with camber changes.

Anyone do their own suspension setup?

Perhaps asking Mr. Felstead for advice on 22B will help !

I know little about the settings needed for slicks on track, I have just gone for an "agressive" road set-up myself.
