Fuel leak !!! Common problem?

Please help!

I've just filled the car with Tesco optimax and after getting home I thought ' god the exhaust stinks!' After a closer inspection I saw a puddle on the floor and there is fuel dripping from a fat pipe under the fuel filler point.

It looks like it has sat under a plastic guard with damp dirt and has rusted through.

Is this pipe a subaru only part? Does anyone know how easy it is to change Please help!!!

Thanks

I had this same problem with my old 2000 turbo, but subaru took the piss with getting hold of the part.

****. Ive had a closer look and its defo the metal pipe that joins from the otherside of the filler cap to a rubber hose near the tank. By the looks of things it was only a little fuel left in the U bend of the pipe but it would explain my heavy fuel consumption.

Obviously I will not drive the car like it but any ideas on a part number /price

thanks alot

Had the same problem with my classic, got a second hand one from grade a breakers. It came from an import so was rust free. Paid around £60 if i remember correctly.

I kinda need one yesterday :\ i use the car daily..
Are they easy to do on the driveway?
Ive WD40ed the bolts ready for me to tackle it.

Surly Can I not cut the rust out an put a flexi pipe in there???

yeah you could do it on the driveway,
I had to drill one of the bolts out on the top of the filler neck as it was so rusty.
You should be able to swap it over in around half an hour.

Same thing happen to me last weekend.
Took off the plastic cover and loads of mud fell out, then knocked the rust off and I had 3 holes in the filler pipe.
Got mine from Grade A too, cost £55+Vat, Lady on the phone said the clean early ones are getting rare now. Next day delivery and arrived at 9:30am

Took me an hour after breaking off 3 bolts. Had to drill and tap them.
You can't get it off without taking the wheel off, its a damn sight easier when the wheels off tho.
I also Hammerited mine so it more of a chance.
