Treble problem with Vibe components
Hi, I have installed some Vibe 16.5cm front components for my Alpine 103CDE-BT and it sounds terrible. The treble is rediculously high, even after reducing the frequency to 10hz and on its lowest setting of -7. There is also distortion even when its not very loud, I have to have the bass right down on the fronts or there is terrible 'farting' distortion. I had set the crossovers to -3db, although didnt notice much difference. I have not dyno'd the inside frame of the doors, only the inside of the outside, if that makes sense.
I am running the components from a 600W Kenwood amp. Then another 1000W amp is running a sub in the boot. Can anyone help :( |
try setting the gain levels on the amp to minimum then work up from there, also check the amp settings like bass boost are off
|
Thanks for that, will check the amp settings again.
Would I be getting these bad conditions from wiring them up wrong? Running posotive to the negative terminal on the speaker for example? Maybe the speakers are out of phase perhaps? Maybe Im clutching at straws :) |
it is worth checking the wiring again, but ive always found vibe to be a little on the high side with infinity speakers. Im now running focal comps & they sound very natural & clear at all volumes.
Also try re-setting your stereo to put the sound levels all back to standard & go from there. good luck! |
running out of phase will only reduce bass, but can help with imaging across the car (you need a sub in the car for this to be effective), if you are running full range through the speakers it can cause the distortion, try turning the hi pas filter on in the amp

Thanks guys.
