Standard Downpipe Type-R

Hi there fellas,

Is the standard Downpipe in a Type-R the same in all the range of classics?

My car faliled MOT on emissions cause I didnt realise the car had no CATs, the garage has quoted me £300 to put a CAT'd Downpipe back in, saying its not straight on straight off cause of all the sensors there?!?!?!.... is there any reason to this madness?

Where exactly are the sensors loacated.... the downpipe or mid section?

Grrrr.... 300 quid and my car doesnt even go any faster!!!

Yes the downpipe is the same as the rest, the sensors are unpluggable so if there not there they have been unplugged.

My main concern here is maybe your car has an aftermarket map?

Hi mate, i've just put a cat from a type r on my 95 wrx and there is one sensor on the downpipe where it meets the turbo which i believe is your lambda sensor, the decat that is on the car will have the sensor plugged into it so should be able to un plug it from the decat and put it on the new cat, i'd buy one and put it on yourself, save you loads m8.
cheers

thanks for the replies...

Im pretty sure the car is running standard map....

he did mention the lambda sensor, but does it really cost so much to source and fit a downpipe?... he quoted 75-100 for a used standard downpipe.

that downpipe price isn't to bad, i think it's just the sensors which might cost a little.

That sounds expensive mate, sound like someone has de-cattted it, The downpipe is the same as all clissics and will have a lambda sensor in it,

I have a center cat section for sale which i have just got through an MOT with and this is all you should need,

PM me if you need it, I'm sure you could sell it on afterwards or keep it for next year
