New 996
Picked my 996 C4S up yesterday - very pleased with it. Its a superb driveand I think I may have looked a bit like :D on the way home! Totally different to the scoob, it feels 'special' in a way that the old car didnt - downsides of practicality - but I think I can live with that! Here's a picture I took on the phone on the way home, sorry about the contrast etc - obviously my phone doesnt like the weather as much as I did yesterday!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...s/DSC00055.jpg I just love the exhaust note - gorgeous with the PSE :thumb: |
Good choice
|
Nice, the PSE is a very good box to have ticked!
Just spent the morning waxing my 911, never tried it before,, quite impressed with the results... must take some photos.. |
very nice ;)

Very nice - as evo states - the best 996 - a mini-GT3 :D
We must get together although yours will shame me into cleaning mine! |
The boys over at DR Harris and Meaden both agree that 996's specifically the 4wd's version have better handling than the new 997 4's including turbo. I believe you have full time 4wd on yours where as the 997's have an on demand system that is far less sophisticated than the likes of the GT-R. Porsche have some way to go in 4wd. JL

I think a 996 will be my next car, I have been thinking about it for a long long time. Looks lovely no wonder you had a massive smile!!

How's that then? His is 4wd :wonder: |
I am only quoting evo magazine ;)
|
Evo mag..... hmmmmm.
And you believe everything they say? ;) |
It was a nice quote so that Mike would feel good about his car.
Tsk, tsk :p |
The C4S was probably the nicest looking 4wd 996 there ever was..
but what use is 4wd without a couple of turbos.....? :lol1: just joshing, Mike. |
:lol1: Lol! enjoying the comments - thanks!
I had a look at a TT zip, but decided that I'd prefer a nice C4S over a 'cheap' turbo with no toys and getting on a bit in years - hopefully this car will provide entertainment enough... for now! Mini GT3 eh? I certainly would have liked a GT3! I saw a really nice GT2 where I bought mine from. Both too expensive for me at the moment though. I'll be looking out for your GT3 around York spooky! |
nice example - enjoy it!
|
996 GT2 is best to avoid. Porsche built in too much inherent understeer as the 993 car was in constant oversteer
Problem was it would seem benign until it lost it's balance and then it would snap into massive oversteer. Not nice. 997 is much better balanced. Enjoy the C4S (don't tell anyone but it was my most desired Porsche until I realised I could get a GT3) |
I am not sure about the GT3 but with the C4S I think its important to point out there is an umbrella almost built in!!!!
I have decided to hire a 996 for the weekend in a few weeks to see if I get on with it. If I do then who knows we might be on the verge of SN Porsche owners sub forum!! |
Very cool what colour's that?
|
Oh Dear - I am a simpleton - I don't get the umbrella comment!

They might have done away with it on yours as I am not sure of the race pedigree as far as umbrellas go. |
Ah, the carbon skeleton umbrella ;)
|
Mines got one. :)

Doesn't the Turbo come with a Picnic Hamper as well for your tours in the country?

There's nowhere to put one, what with all that 4wd trickery up front. :p Doesn't the GT3 have a bump in the roof so you can wear your helmet? |
My helmet is not quite THAT big ;)
