RUST

theres a pin point rust coming through on my door panel!!

what can i do?

TonyBurns 30 May 2009 05:43 PM

When it starts its best to get it treated, normally a full respray on that panel should sort it :) or depending how old your car is, subaru to get your car resprayed under the anti perforation warranty.

FULL RESPRAY?

any cheaper methods or less hassle methods :p

may be cheaper to get another door the same colour and just swap over, depends how bad the rust is really. If just a rusty stone chip then a chips away person may do it cheaply.

If it bubbled from inside to outside then you will need a respray, not as expensive as you think though, probably just as cheap as a replacement door from a breakers :) if its as Daz says, stone chips, then chips away may do the job, but rust is rust and its best to get it sorted sooner rather than later :)

as daft as it sounds i have heard that vinegar stops rust in its tracks it (allegedly) eats oxidised parts(rust) and leaves the good metel alone

on the door subject ..... what car, door and colour?

i have a nearside rear in black from a newage in great condition

sorry had to reword it , its not on the door panel, but its on the bit where you shut the door (on the car) where it locks
imagine the child lock bit but on the car not door
the rust is about the size of a biro nib, so i was just wondering is there an easy fix

GEORDIESTI 01 June 2009 04:21 PM

wwp8 if the rust is that small, and its not bubbled, cracked etc just get some t-cut,cloth and good old elbow grease and it comes of without any probs. hope this helps.
