Not necessarily, but probably.

Midlife...... 28 May 2009 11:35 PM

It certainly didn't leave the factory like that LOL

OEM TD04L starts to run out of steam at about 250 BHP.....after that it tends to run out of air flow and heat up the charge rather than compressing it LOL

With mods to keep the charge temps down it can do quite a bit more (Sti Intercooler etc) but not a lot...

Post a link to the car :)

the cars mine its a project and im upgrading it alot turbo etc and its getting mapped by andy forrest on the 5th was just trying to work out if its maybe been ecutek already and saving me some on the remap on the 5th as opposed to the 500+vat can i tell if it has a licence?
its was stock engine, turbo, intercooler etc, upgrades i found were

uprated exhaust with sports cat
walbro 255
k&n induction kit and thats pretty much it?

The only way you'll tell if it's been ECUTek'd is by hooking the car up to a laptop and try reading the ECU, if it reads, then it hasn't been hijacked by ECUTek(lucky you).

whatswrong with ecutek?? this is the method andy forrest says will be mapping it with?? theres nothing but mixed opinions bout everything on this forum?

wrx fifer 29 May 2009 12:09 AM

where you at blue nose you in fife then i?

bluenose172 29 May 2009 12:17 AM

There's nothing wrong with ECUTek if you're happy to pay the price for the ECUTek 'license' and have them lock the ECU at the same time. There's no one up here that does OpenSource mapping yet, so you're kinda of limited with your options. Andy will do the business with your car, no worries there!

Yeah, I'm in Fife.
