Insurance is doing my head in! :( Need help!

My insurance is coming up for renewal very soon and Im starting to get peeved trying to get a 'sensible' premium.

What gets me is 99% of Scooby owners on here have modified their vehicles, most probably with air induction, body changes and exhausts. Mine is the same and after farting around on confused.com and the like only one or two companies pop up with ridiculous prices, all the others (all 70 odd of them) say Insurer unable to quote for your details!!!

Surely not everyone on here with a modded scooby is going through keith michaels or A-plan???

Im 26 with 8 yrs protected ncb and drive a modified 2005 Prodrive WRX.

Anyone help or anyone the same age as me with the same spec car, what insurance you paying and who with?

Cheers in advance.

I'm with admiral 2005 version 9 STI, insured it 25yrs with 7NCB protected less than £1k

think u will find if u have a modded car they will only quote after they have spoken to u and checked out the mods - the internet is only good for standard cars (and peeps !)

How exactly do insurance companies come up with a premium, you have to tell them everything apart from your inside leg measurement and they cook up a figure. What forces the price up?

Home Address?
Age?
Yrs No Claims?
Job?
Named Driver?

Without going into details I would of thought Im A-OK in all those areas with respect to someone insuring me for a decent price.

you are wasting your time going on confused.com they are only good for joe blogs in ford fiestas or the freak on the advert with long hair, the last time i went on there they wanted over £2500 TPFT! rang A-plan and got a quote of just over £500.00 not much of difference hey

I was with greenlight the last 2 years, the guy i talked to was very good.
He said they only start charging more with power modifications and go from the bhp if i remember right, all cosmetic stuff they just charge an admin cost of £25 i think it was to change it on their system.
My renewal last year was £697 on MY05 wrx and im 25 with 5yrs ncb. and they also cover trackdays for £50 a day wich was handy.
