STI V3/4 gearbox into MY99 Turbo

Hi m8s

I own a MY99 Turbo with a damaged gearbox.

I'm thinking about buying a STI V3/4 gearbox ( TY752VBCAA ) with 4.444 diff.

Would this be a straight fit into my 99 Turbo?

thx!

You would be far better looking for a TY754 box which will be stronger than the TY752 from the STi 3 or 4.
What is the gearbox number in your car at present? TY754***???

As harvey says i would also go for a TY754 gearbox.

The gearboxes are physically interchangable although the bell housing bolts vary but that is not a problem
Best to use another TY754 from a UK car.
Assuming your car is a UK turbo 2000 M/Y 99 then you have a front diff of 3.9, a centre drop gear of 1.1 :1 and 3.545 rear diff.
STi3/4 are 4.44 F & R with drop gear 1.0 : 1.

The TY 752 only has 4 bolts attaching it to the engine whereas a TY754 has 8 bolts.
The 752 will bolt straight up as I have put a TY752 into my MY99 uk turbo.

Until I can afford a PPG gearset for my TY754VN1aa original box.

Bad idea all round. Aside from the issues with the 752 casing the others have already mentioned, you've then got to deal with the ratio mismatch between the centre/front diff and your 3.545:1 rear. If you don't change the rear diff to suit you will have an evil handling car and you will break the centre diff in the new box quite quickly. If you do change to a 4.44 rear diff, you're then stuck with ratios that are too short for the relatively low revving UKEUDM specification engine.

If you want to replace a bust gearbox on a 99-00 GT and don't want to go six speed, you'd be far better advised to get hold of one from an MY01-MY04 UK/EU spec WRX than the option you're considering.
