BTW, I am sure it is a coincidence but out of the top 10, most of the high spenders are scottish :Suspiciou

Mine is actually not that bad -- and only £1K on IT. I am going to give him a call and see if I can sell him some computer consultancy.

There seems to be an average of 70-80k staffing, just how many staff do you need to be an MP? I'm guessing 3 or 4 by that rate? Some are over £100k!!! Feck me ! Edit to say no doubt plenty of family members in there... :(

Won't that be because they have to travel further to Westminster...

Nice one Swiss - a good find! :thumb:

Interestingly......

There are a lot of MP's within easy commuting distance of London claiming the allowance for second homes whilst others in the same position do not, e.g. the MP's for Basingstoke and Wokingham claim the £23k, the MP's for the Reading area do not. These are all places from which thousands of people commute daily to London (ok, maybe not so many these days with the recession!!)
Why have they been allowed to get away with this???

It's deffo a scam that's been rumbled!

I have the cheapest MP in Westminster. Only spent £47K.

Meet Westminster's cheapest MP: Philip Hollobone - Telegraph

JonMc 22 May 2009 11:42 PM

There are MPs in there whose constituency is between me and Westminster - I live 13 miles from Westminster - and they are claiming for second homes. I thought second homes were for use when an MP was required in Parliament and couldn't live in there constituency home:brickwall

corradoboy 23 May 2009 11:47 PM

Doesn't it work out at an average £147k or so each ? I suppose we must remember that 'some' of it is legitimate, and in the grand scheme, £93m isn't a massive amount when you consider the £700bn we pay in tax (I think Google gave me the right numbers). They are still a bunch of lying, cheating, free-loading, nest-feathering cnuts though
