A printer that just WORKS?!

Never spent much on printers because we only need the basics - low print runs, okayish quality but not photo stuff and something that just works.

However the ones we get just don't seem to last long at all and I HATE setting them up.

Trouble is, I'm not convinced more money means better durability - just seems to mean more pointless features (we have a scanner and don't need to fax for example).

Any suggestions for a printer that just WORKS and carries on working without being buried in silly features?

Happy to spend a bit if needed but don't need a silly thing the size of a car! Needs to be compact.

Our HP printers at work take a hammering from printing prescriptions all day. I've never seen one break.

That's the one we have for monochrome work, never puts a foot wrong.:thumb:

I'd not have another Epson or canon though.

When I DI buy a photo printer, I'll get a decent HP one.

We've HP printers, admittedly pretty big ones (4350) that are well over 3,000,000 pages in less than 5 years, and our oldest HP printer is nearly 15 years old and is still working fine. They take a hammering and rarely breakdown.

As I've mentioned before my Trust uses HP Compaq kit and it never seems to put a foot wrong :D

Unlike some of the Brother stuff we have :(

Bought an HP CP1515n colour laser printer in the end.

So far so very good.

Nice to have a "grown ups" printer at last.

Shame the toners carts are £75 each - YIKES!

Out of interest, why not? I've got a couple of Canons, and they've been 100% reliable so far, and been pretty heavily used (had them 3/4 years each).

I wouldn't touch an HP photo printer personally. Had some very bad experiences with their stuff (and Epson). Their lasers are ok though..
