Aston Martin
A friend is thinking of buying an Aston Martin Vanquish. Are there any versions he should not consider? And would the V8 Vantage be an alternative option?

Have a look at the front damper lower mounting brackets, some of them had insufficient welds and needed a recall.
Some of them misfire, it was a software glitch in the ignition, can be a costly repair if its out of warranty. Thats about it, they are pretty good cars as far as I know. Its one of those cars that the services needs to be tip top, but apart from that just check the normal things you would check on a car. Its not scientific but... check the tyres, if they all match and are good tyres I tend to find the car is better looked after then if its running on odd tyres or budget brands. |
You can get a Manual gearbox factory conversion now. I 'd want that.

The engine is pretty much bullet proof i used to machine the heads and block's at cosworth.

Take a careful look at the bodywork if you look at them.
I know of a number that have been in a dealer's own refinishing centre to rectify various defects. Really the cars should be rectified by Works Service (with the exception of stone chips and wear and tear defects etc.); but some dealers opt not to. |
My brother has just bought a V8 Vantage convertible, less than two years old for almost half what it cost the original owner, great car and the noise :norty:
Just remove fuse 22 to open the exhaust valves permantly and gain that sound track through the whole rev range :thumb: |
Interesting trick. Good to know :thumb:
