Right I need a tracker for insurance reasons, which one should I get? The car is generally either in a secure car park or very quiet area, so I hope not to have to use the tracker, and I'm not sure I'd want the car back after its been trashed by theives anyway but so far...
(prices include 2 years of tracking - likely length of time I'll keep the car)
Standard Trackers
Tracker £199+£70 fitting+£99pa = £468
Navtrak = £449 + £225(years) = £674
Asset Assured Phantom = £399 (no ongoing charges)

Proactive Trackers
Tracker Moniter £299+£135 fitting+£99pa = £632
RAC Trackstar (24hour) £555+£120pa = £795 (with member discount)
Navtrack Proactive £499+£335 + £834

Can anyone else suggest any insurance friendly tracking devices? The Asset Assured would be favourite but Tescos/Direct line don't accept that tracker as it isn't on their list . Strange given that it is thatcham approved

I'm in the same boat as Jon here, except I've paid for cover and have to get one fitted by the end of next week to be covered for theft. Eek.

If anyone emails Jon, can they copy me please?

Thanks for the summary Jon. I'm a bit concerned about continuance of service in some cases. Is it true eguard went under a little while ago? What happened to those that had that tracker installed?
What about swapping the unit to another vehicle? I'm sure another 10^6 questions will occur when I start phoning round in earnest 2moro.

I would consider the RAC trackstar but the 0% offer seems a bit of a sham... The subscribtion is non transferable and though you can move the device to a new car for £150+ but then you have to pay for a new subscription  There's always a catch...

(un)fortunately I didn't get the car that would have required a tracker, so will probably want one in a month or two... I hope I can still get a deal like the group buy.

I have had a Tracker fitted for my insurance off a Tracker company (Tracker I think they're called - not too sure though, recmommended by Privilege). It was 469quid to fit and 99 a year subscription.

It is the 24 hour one where they phone you if the cra is moved without the key in it.

It was the best deal I could find at the time (about a month ago) and they fitted it within 3 days when everyone else wanted a fortnight.

it all depends what you are after. are you after a tracker for insurance purposes & want to keep costs low, or a decent tracker for both insurance & security?? The later option being more expensive off course.

If it is the first option, then why not go for something like a tracker retrieve or the naxtrak.

If the second then go for the navtrak proactive or RAC trakstar.
