STI engine into WRX Please help.
As mentioned in my other post (Compression test results) Please have a look. I think my engine has had it.
I found this on Ebay http://redirectingat.com/?id=42X123&url=http%3A//cgi.ebay.co.uk/SUBARU-IMPREZA-STI-92-98-EJ-20-EJ20-ENGINE_W0QQitemZ260383146094QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_ CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM%3Fhash%3Ditem260383 146094%26_trksid%3Dp3286.c0.m14%26_trkparms%3D72%2 53A1689%257C66%253A2%257C65%253A12%257C39%253A1%25 7C240%253A1308. Is it worth putting a new engine in or am I better off getting mine repaired??. Will the STI engine above be a straight swap and will things like my TD05 turbo, Apexi Power FC ect be ok on it. Is this a task which I could do myself. I’m good with all mechanical work but never swapped an engine before. Reason I would like to do it myself is to try save some money after being let off from work recently money is very tight. Been driving round a 1.4 LX escort for a few weeks now and its killing me after the Scooby. Need to sort it ASAP. Any advice/help will be much appreciated. Thanks, Chris |
i cant tell which way to go with your engine, but one thing i would definitely do is avoid the sellers in your link, as all you will receive is a jet washed spray painted engine that they "hope" will be alright

Really.
Bunch of C***S. They make it sound like a good deal with all new bits. Wont be going there then. Did think it was a little cheap for what there saying has been done. Dont no which way to go myself. Thanks for the warning. |
