I managed to get in ok, then it gave me a massive explanation as to why others couldnt - eh??

so just thought id post it here for you guys :-

We understand that some of you are having difficulties connecting to your Morpheus User Network. As you know from recent newsletters, Morpheus has been preparing to substantially upgrade the Morpheus software. Unexpectedly, one of our software providers made a significant upgrade to their technology that is currently incompatible with Morpheus.

We share our Morpheus users' frustration with this action and are committed to getting you back up on the network as soon as possible. As a result, we are accelerating the release of our new Morpheus software and within days expect Morpheus users to enjoy the Morpheus Preview Edition. The Morpheus Preview Edition will provide enhanced capabilities, a new, easy-to-use interface and most importantly, will provide access to more search results. In addition, we want to assure our users that, unlike other peer-to-peer networks, we remain committed to a free software product without spy ware.

We appreciate our users' loyalty to the Morpheus product and are committed to providing you with the best peer-to-peer network in the world. We appreciate your patience during this short transition. Please check back for exact availability to download the new Morpheus Preview Edition....

edited to say kazaa still works which uses the same engine as morph (and i generally find better results there) so go get that.

Theres now a new trial version of Morpheus available for download, but having downloaded it and tried using it my advice would be to download and use Kazaa.

Pete,

After you edit the dates swap to US format. For the first few days of each month the it becomes valid.

Known issue with the S/W.

Been running Morpheus for a while and I've been very pleased with it up till now. Preview edition not so good so I thought about Kazaa. Read some interesting reviews from the download site including this one:-
"
"KAZAA IS NOT YOUR ANSWER"
don't you people see? kazaa brought down morpheus's server to control the popularity of file sharing! before, they couldn't win because they had spyware and other ivasions of privacy, wasting your computer's rescousces, and now, they've become number 1! they have made you desparate by attacking morpheus! morpheus preveiw edition is only a temporary fix! they made it in about a week, and they will come out with something much better when they are done! DO NOT download kazaa! it loads TONS of advertisements and other spyware to your computer! "

Can't comment on this as I've no experience of Kazaa but I'll give Morpheus a bit of time to get back on track.

Entirely true aswell, well, the bit about the spyware is anyway. The main attraction to Morpheus was the spyware simply wasnt there, but with Kazaa it is.

At the end of the day almost everything you do on the net conatins spyware.MSN Messenger reports back with what pages you are looking at if you leave it running while browsing the net. This week after installing XP, windows in formed me that smilies from certain sites can also be used to track your actions.

If it aint Kazaa it`ll be sommat else, be it GoZilla, MSN or whatever.

Rich.

Rich

Is there a way to monitor/stop information from being sent out. I'm running morpheus, MSN, ICQ occasionally. PC seems pretty lethargic. I run zonelabs and I've got Norton Personal Firewall but the info it gives me is all gobbledegook?

Have a look HERE as theres alot of anti-spyware programs out there.

Problem been programs like GoZilla which is very useful dont operate once you remove the spyware. There is one very simular program to GoZilla that apparently does`nt have the spyware but i dont know its name.

Interesting - or maybe not, the preview edition seems to be send data even when you have disabled sharing..

Putting a trace on the connection up to the internet I found that the newer client is sending about 1.5Kb per sec each way even when the client is not doing anything.. OK we have the ads on the client so that explains the 1.5Kb incoming, but outgoing ???

I've not had the time to look closer on this, anybody found the same/have an explanation ??

cheerio
