Simtek - hunting on idle

Car is MAF less as running Simtek.
In Europe at the mo - so can find anyone to plug into the ECU and look for fault codes.

I have checked for airleeks - can not find any.
Idle control valve has been cleaned
Replaced the lamda sensor

But still the idle is all over the place.
Once the car is moving it drives fine

Over the past few days I have noticed that the exhaust is begining to blow from the up pipe I think. Surely this is not enough to effect the idle.

Any ideas anyone on what to do next!

That can happen if the temperature has changed significantly from when it was setup, although the compensation should be good enough if setup the right way. You may find if you let the car cool right down and then start again the problem temporarily goes away. Only way to fix this properly is to adjust the fuelling for the idle cells on the MAP and perhaps trimming the IGN slightly, another good reason to have the software and cable yourself. A leaky downpipe could cause hunting as your o2 sensor cyles constantly to trim the fuelling, try and get that fixed first.

Thanks for the advice
Looks like I need to get the idle MAP relooked at.
It was happening before the minor blow from the exhaust. But I will get that sorted ASAP - so the car is in good running order for when I get the MAP relooked at. (which is a big journey for me)

Incidently - Any idea how easy is it to get hold of the cable and software

Cheers :)

No worries, Steve Simpson can get you the cable + software for your ecu, or your mapper should be able to. It's a license key, software and serial-ps2 cable. PM steve rally on here and he'll hook you up. Once you have that, your mapper can tweak for you and email the new definitions across for you to upload, saves a lengthy journey anyway.
