Warning light on a MY97?
Over the past 24hrs i've seen this warning light come on the dash a few times while driving. First time it happened i was just pottering a long, it came on for a few minutes and went off on its own accord. It's done similar today on my regular commute to work, not the most spirited driving in the world. Any advice welcome, thanks. Car's a modded UK Impreza, 97: http://img266.imageshack.us/img266/4680/dsc01525.jpg

Low fluid warning light?
http://i137.photobucket.com/albums/q...ay004Small.jpg Yellow container at the top of the picture has a float in it which can stick. This ,as you may guess, is an early engine bay but i would expect to be in roughly the same place on yours. |
Thanks, i've checked out both the yellow and i can't see a float but the fuild levels seem high to me. I checked out the container marked "coolant" near the battery and it looks dry tho!
Could this be the cause, and can i pick up some generic coolant tonight from a shell or is it cute stuff? http://img156.imageshack.us/img156/9741/dsc01529l.jpg Thanks again for the help |
That pipe is the overflow from the engine coolant which hasn't anything to do with the warning light.
The warning light is '!' isn't it (just incase i've got it wrong as your dash is slightly different to mine). |

Now Mate, my brake warning light came on just the same, it turned out to be the wear indicator on the pads telling me that i needed to replace. Worth checking.
