Is someone logging me out?
I am having problems staying logged in :wonder:
If i leave SN for any length of time i come back and have to log in again. Its getting annoying now. Why has this started happening. I reply to something then when i post it i am logged out :Suspiciou Is someone tampering with sarasquares? |
Forgot to mention but i have to log back in when i want to reply. I think i may have mentioned this before but i have worded it differently now :thumb:
Can you hurry up and fix it please |
I believe the logged in status is handled by cookies. What you may want to try is this:
1) Logout of SN. 2) Delete ALL cookies that have scoobynet in their name. 3) Clear your history and cache 4) Quit your browser 5) Relaunch browser, go to www.scoobynet.com then click on the "Subaru Forum" option from the little orange "Site Navigation" section. 6) Login and see if it keeps you logged in. |
But i have never had this problem in 6 years. When i had a hissy fit i went for months and didn't have to log back on again. I am confused as to why its happening :wonder:
It doesn't happen every time either  |

Its still happening :(
Tried everything too! |
Just some info that may/may not help:
With regard to cookies. Bear in mind that scoobynet changed from .co.uk to .com several years ago. Now due to this and any enabled security settings on your PC, any cookies allowed for one domain may not be allowed with the other (i.e cookies are allowed for scoobynet.co.uk but maybe rejected for scoobynet.com ), this issue has cropped up since the recent changes, probably from some rogue links. Because of this ensure you always use one or the other (infact, I'd advise to only use "scoobynet.com", not "scoobynet.co.uk" as the site is more likely to be geared to work with the .com domain), this goes for your favourites, "remembered" or "recently typed" addresses in the address bar, as well as any links you may have saved, stored or written down somewhere, or any result dispalyed in a seach engine, like google or quick find bar (such as google toobar or yahoo toolbar etc)....do not switch between domains (i.e log in using scoobynet.co.uk, then try browsing links that use scoobynet.com). If you are using IE (Internet Explorer), check the bottom of the window for this icon: http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...isc/cookie.jpg If it shows, it is blocking a cookie, this maybe having an affect on you ability to remain logged in. Double click on the icon and it will list what is being blocked. Anything with "scoobynet" as the address should be enabled by rightclicking and selecting "always accept", close the box and then reload the page by pressing ctrl+F5 (you may need to log in again). For firefox try by going to: Tools-->Options-->Privacy-->exceptions and insert "bbs.scoobynet.com". Finally, I will point out on the odd occasions I have had the odd issue logging in on the odd works computer I've previously logged out on or where the cookies have been cleared by using clean-up software (such as ccleaner): Whereby It appears I'm not logged in. What has worked for me is: Browse to any page in scoobynet by clicking any link on the forum page, refreshing the page (ctrl+F5), use the log in box at the top-right of the page, check "remember me" is ticked, log-in, browse to another page and refresh again (crtl+F5), from that point I appear as logged in and remain so for the session. (I have a feeling that in my case it maybe a rogue .co.uk link I've initially inadvertantly clicked on, thus the need to refresh the page and browse to another page and try logging in again). Little point to note for Stu; the 10min temporary user sessions are a little too short for my liking, as sometimes I do not want the PC to store a permanent cookie. For instance when borrowing a friend's PC, I find the 10min inactivity period too short if I happen to get distracted or whilst typing a long post ( like this one ;) ). Have fun ;):D AL |
I had this problem and the above solved it. I was choosing scoobynet.co.uk from my recent sites and never showed as logged in at the home page, but did at the forum page. I changed it to .com and all is fine again.
I was just going to make a topic about it, so thanks for beating me to it :D |
Well i have done everything i have been told at its still logging me out. I only went for a wee :Suspiciou
|
Where did you go? lol
|

|
it's been happing to me to so i took the link out of my favorites the googled scooby net and saved it to my favorites and it's working again :luxhello:
|
Was the old favourite "co.uk" or ".com" ?
Maybe links using co.uk don't work properly now :wonder: |
it doesnt do it on my Gf's new lappy running vista.
I just used cc cleaner to clean my machine and it logs me out?? Using firefox win xp sp3 :) |
I have allowed sn.com using firefox in my 'tools' but i am still having the problems. It does not happen on any other forum i use. If i read a thread and then reply i am logged out again
Oh well, at least it has made me use sn less than usual as i cant be bothered foofing about. I will not renew my membership if i cant use the site properly :thumb: |

the worst thing is if you type a hooge post and you sent it and you are asked to log in again. Luckily i am able to go back, copy and paste then log in again but its getting on my B:):)BS now :( I have tried everything there is to do so it cant be anything my end, its a conspiracy :Suspiciou |
The site simply leaves a cookie on your machine and its this that keeps you logged in.
The most common cause is a corrupt cookie or people using old saved links to log into a site who's address has changed slightly. Like this one has... |
Hi Stu
I followed the above advice but it keeps logging me out...... I recently downloaded IE8....could that be the issue? I do not have any old links to SN |
