How do you stop an import becoming a large pile of brown dust?
 

My car is an import and the same age as my old car and less miles but certain areas look a little rusty coloured compared to my UK car. I've also noticed today that the NS rear arch has a tiny bit of bubbling.

My car is for keeps so although I'd rather spend money on shiney trinkets I'd better spend it on preservation.

How do you get a car waxoyled? How much would the rear arches cost to be tidied up (its barely noticeable) How do you protect a car? I'm only using the scoob on decent days so it will hardly see any rain but my garage is away from the house so doesn't have power. Its dry but I can't control temps. Would a cover still be a good idea even though its garaged?

What can I do?

Try posting in the car care section they might be able to help with the long term care ;)
As for the rust I would have thought a body shop, there is things you can put on to prevent the rust getting worse but I'm not to sure what its called :brickwall

Gave mine a dose of spray Hammerite with Waxoyl. Not that it needed it. However the paint work is toppers.

Ive just had my rear arches welded and waxoiled. I then took all my boot linings out and waxoiled the inside of the panels to. I hope that keeps it at bay for a while. I'm going to get her undersealed again.

for under the rear arches i use the brush on hammerite underseal,need to re-do it,had car 2.5 yrs now

there is a company called frost they sell( por 15 ) metal ready and por rust prevention i think there still on the go used em wen i restored cars as a hobby they sell lodsa stuff like that .Classic car restoration, kit cars and motorcycle restoration tools and equipment - Frost Auto

That looks like good stuff.

Having looked at a mates UK turbo my RA doesn't have the plastic "inner" on the insides of its rear arches. Theres only the slightest bubble and its not on the visual surface yet but best to get it early.

Doesn't help that the car has been here since new and I don't think the underneath has been looked at with protection in mind.

Does it help keeping the car garaged? My garage isn't damp but not air tight and as I said theres no power so can't keep heat in.

Would a cover still be worthwhile being garaged?
