Does dashboard bar have to be removed to get at heater matrix?
I'm running an MY99 classic which has a slight leak in the heater matrix.
This weekend I've been stripping the dash out of the car and have got this far.... http://i91.photobucket.com/albums/k3...es_my_dash.jpg It looks like I have to remove the bar which lies across the width of the car to get to the plastic surrounding the heater matrix? Can anyone confirm if this is the case please? Any other tips would be great as there's not much info on this job on the forum that I've found. Thanks, Dean |
Yes you do..
from memory just bolts on either side and it drops down enough just checked through pics I took http://images.fotopic.net/ynooqv.jpg Simon |
Thanks you for taking the time to reply Simon, that's put my mind at ease now :thumb:

I assume it's the same for MY94 WRX. Looks like it's time to get the spanners out! :D
Mine started leaking today so I've joined the hoses under the bonnet to bypass the matrix. |
yes same..
it is not that bad a job just daunting and can be a pain to find everything to plug back in.. from memory.. remove the top of the dash where the air blows up the screen and there is two 10mm bolts, remove the glovebox and there is 2 10mm bolts, remove the clocks and therei s another two.. unbolt the bonnet pull.. remove stereo consol and there are two 10mm nuts that need to come undone.. then the clock loom unplugs by accellerator and then you are pretty much on removing / untangling any after market stuff that has been feed through the dash loom and needs to be cut / removed in order to get the dash out.. I might have forgotten the odd bolt but you get the idea Simon:) |
