Road legal track tyres
 

OK, i'm a bit puzzled as to what tyres to buy. I want a set of tyres that i can use on the road and track. I am booked in for Castle combe at performance car day next Saturday. Plan on doing the ring this year and also a track day at Llandow in June. I use the car on the road but only now and again, as a toy :) What tyres do you recommend? and where's the best place to buy them.
At the minute Toyo R888 are looking the best bet and camskill are doing them for £123 ish tyre size 215 45 17.

Any advice?

R888's probably offer best value for money and Camskill are often the cheapest supplier. I believe R888's will only be available through specialist suppliers rather usual Toyo stockists.

Thanks for the quick reply Mark. Got to order a set soon i think, getting a bit close to next weekend. Any ideas if R888's need running in?

In an ideal world yes but it's not very practical.

FEDERAL SS595RS not tried them but they appear to be in the same market as the toyos ?

ADVAN A048 Semi-Slicks.... Much much better than the R888's IMO....

Will cost a whole lot more but worth every penny... not easy to source tho....

A better tyre but cost circa 30% more than R888's.
