airbox advice required
hi guys and girls.
im in the middle of fitting a front mount intercooler to my94 sti wagon. i have removed the airbox to allow the intercooler pipe to run through the inner wing, but when removing it, i found a plastic chamber inside the front wing, which is attached to the airbox. can someone tell me what this is and what it's use is, as im considering trying to mount the airbox somewhere else in order to get the car up and running before the car has the induction and remap done and want to know whether this plastic chamber is important or not, as it seems to just be empty with some foam in it and a hole at the bottom, im assuming for collection of water and the hole to drain it away. any help appreciated steve |
It's a schnorkel or resonator just another part of the induction system

its not important and basically takes away the induction noise!
