You bought your 98R new at list price from a dealer and when you traded it in today (no p/x)at the same outlet with its average mileage and no extras you found that you were 8,900 smackers out of pocket, which some may say is not good. But what the heck you've had nearly four years of enjoyment out of it. On the other hand the guy who bought his Cadillac Seville 4.6 STS cos he liked the HUD and the fact that it's the most powerful FWD motor on sale in the UK, is now £30,400 worse off.

Bluddy hell fire.

..au contraire mon ami that sounds very good depreciation for a new car over four years ! Is that a real example ?

You WHAT???

You'd better publish, or rather not publish, the name of that outlet pronto! They'll be deluged with Scoobynetters!

I bought my R-plate Terzo for brand new price when it was a year old with average mileage, due to laws of supply and demand. I sold it back 14 months and 12k miles later and was 10,500 smackers out of pocket!

Better change your name to Group Captain Smug, pulling off the bargain of the century!

(As for the guy with the Caddy... well, anyone buying a caddy has more money than sense anyway.)

The scenario is hypothetical though the figures quoted are "official".

Bonsoir.

Phew... for a moment there I thought I had been ripped off... :)

I'd love to see someone give me £12,000 for my MY98 5dr. Some joker offered £8,400 today :(

JKJ2 03 March 2002 10:39 PM

Well if the offered price is too low, and you aren't in a hurry then, don't sell. I'm looking at Autocar here, at R reg Fiat T coupes, same reg £10500, that's a Fiat mind you.A '99 Audi sport quattro, yawn, £16,000, what's that all about then. Look, don't sell, dry up the market, we know people want the old shape over the new, drive second hand prices back up again. For some reason the definative budget supercar is being spun into obscurity, and why, nothing has come along yet to offer similar dynamics/performance/bangs per bucks. Your second hand prices are in your hands, demand the best and if not walk away.
