STi brakes on an WRX?

Hi All,

What would I have to do to put a set of STi brakes on an '04MY WRX?

Best,

Alex

Unbolt the olde ones, put the new ones on.
You might need thicker hand brake shoes for the rears, but don't quote me on that.

Hi
Yes it all bolts on , but you will need the thicker handbrake shoes we make , if you get the STi discs from a 2005 onwards car you will need to get the discs redrilled to suit your PCD
Cheers Ian

The Brembo brakes won't go under your standard alloys though, so you would need some new wheels too. That's why I went the K-sport route, they do fit under the standard wheels, just.

Hi, just done mine on a 04 WRX too. Got the discs and thicker handbrake shoes from Godspeed (thanks Ian!) Fronts are very easy - just bolt on. Rears are more of a pain as i needed to hammer the stone guards to fit as the disks are bigger. The handbrake springs are a pain though. Make sure you get the right fitment of discs as stated above. Yours should be 5x100PCD as mine - but check. You'll need to change your wheels to STi to get the clearance for the front calipers. You can do it with spacers, but it's recommended to buy a set of the STi wheels.

The extra stopping power does not notice yet - need to bed them in! They look fantastic though!

I've just fitted D2 STI 8-pots onto the front of my Bug WRX, apart from tweaking the dust sheilds back to clear the discs they went on without a drama. Braking power is awesome now....:luvlove:

I also attempted to fit a set of STI D2 6-pots on the rear but the drum is way bigger than the WRX brake shoes (about 190mm as opposed to 171mm.....i think) and I think I would need to get at the sheilds with an angle-grinder to mount the caliper brackets properly.....:wonder:

Now I'm looking for a set of rear STI hubs to complete the transformation.

Over here the STi's only have the 4 pot Brembo's. So what are these 6 and 8 pots from? They can't be standard to an STi.
