worth regapping my plugs? classic wrx problem
i was suffering from hesitation on my 1994 wrx so i replaced the plugs with pfr7bs to start with & gapped to 0.65 as recommended, then replaced my coilpacks one by one as they was cracked, the hesitation & power seemed to get abit better but upon fitting the 4th coil pack its back again so ive now got new plugs new coil packs & the maf has been tested & cleaned & working ok,also all boost pipes, question is would i now need to gap the plugs back up to 0.7 would it make any difference? thanks in advance

hi i had the same prob, it was the temp sensor fault code. i changed the sensor and then found a tiny break in the loom about 2" from the plug.
have you done the fault code check?. John |
yes mate ive done a ecu code check & its fine not bringing up anything, only other thing i can think of next to try is a new fuel pump maybe the old one is tired & struggling to keep up now, but just wondered if it would be worth regapping the plugs as i only gapped them to 0.65 as my coil packs where abit knackered at the time

i changed all coil packs for the uprated ones, new stainless air filter as mine was a gauze/k&n wet type. new temp sensor, my plugs are the 6 version not same as yours but standard and i did not gap them. Replaced the turbo inlet pipe as it was hard and had some splits in that i only found when i removed it.
cleaned and sealed all again (intercooler etc) hope this helps |
didnt know they made "uprated coilpacks" where did you get these from?
|
i got these of a reputable jap seller on ebay, they seem better but who knows £200 for 4 so its replaced them all with 12 month warranty

thats not a bad price for 4 i paid 65 quid each for mine, yeah couldn't see anything wrong with the pipe work but might just uprate the turbo ones for samco's anyway & for what its worth just gap the plugs back to 0.7
