E46 M3s

Had a quick butchers at a few on-line today - flippin eck they are cheap! Even £15k gets you a LOT of M3. And the lovely CS is hovering around the £20k mark.

Interesting...

chrisUK300 07 April 2009 07:15 PM

Even bigger bargains have you seen the price of E39 M5`s :norty: verrrrrrrry tempting ::luvlove:

ScoobyJawa 07 April 2009 07:59 PM

E36 M3's are now a pittance! A fair bit under 5k gets you 321bhp

Good cars if you can put up with the crap image.

I've been spat at when driving an M3 before.

I know what you mean,i had some right crap happen to me when i had mine.I once had a guy at a set of traffic light's calling me names and he spat :freak3:

I bought a Z4M Coupe today and absolutely love it!! Its the same engine as the E46 M3's. You won't be disappointed.

I think its worth being spat on just for the fun. :D

Reffro 07 April 2009 09:40 PM

Almost bought an E39 M5, after thinking hard about an E46 M3. Loved driving the M5, it was stunning, but its natural speed seemed to be about 20mph over the limit everywhere. In the end I settled on the last of the old shape S8's. Final Edition with 20's and fully kitted, I think its got virtually every optional extra. I love it. 360bhp and quattro make for a stunning drive.

AlanPPP 07 April 2009 09:56 PM

You won't find many scooby drivers that wouldn't have an M3 i don't think..there just such a complete package.

Nat 07 April 2009 10:06 PM

You get pretty pissed off driving a car where everyone thinks you're a chav nob.

Other than Bugatti and things made in sheds from plastic i've driven every make of car you can buy in this country and none have got as much negative reaction as an M3.

Nat 07 April 2009 10:15 PM

I do need to drive an E90 M3 though....then i'll have driven every generation of them :)

rossibeater 07 April 2009 10:21 PM

my boss chucked me the key thing to his brand new M3, the V8 one, i set it set in full power M mode and to be honest i was a bit disapointed with it in terms of speed, didn't pull as hard as the scoob, and he was not happy when i lit the tyres up in the car park, didn't speak to me for a week :lol1:

Matteeboy 07 April 2009 10:22 PM

Nat - the E90 is flipping lovely. I saw a black coupe yesterday and it was gorgeous.
Cheapest is still £35k though...

Paulg - I can't see many people giving a Z4M Coupe a bad reaction. How is it by the way? They are pretty reachable now but only two seats - damn!

Nat 07 April 2009 10:40 PM

The Z4M won't get any bad reaction....when i drove a Z3M it only got good reactions :)

Same with other decent BMW's....it's just M3's that everyone loves to hate :D

Hhhhmmm new extra hot hatch for £30K or slightly used E90 M3 for £35K..... :wonder:

Simon K 08 April 2009 08:00 AM

I brought my m3 evo conv new in 98'. Cost me well over £40K. Was only 26 at the time and always wanted one despite my father telling me to invest in property !!! ( I know, you cant put a wise head on young shoulders ) In the beginning everyone looked at it as being cool / flash, a few years passed and people looked at it as the old model but still nice, now people look at it as a chav wagon and spit at me :-)

I wont ever sell it, as its my baby, Ive lost £££££££££££££, its in great condition, and its going to be my 2 month baby son's first car ! hahaah

SBK

scoobberdoo 08 April 2009 08:50 AM

I'm no fan of the M3 for various reasons and it's not just the image, however, spitting at peoples cars is just despicable  and M3's don't deserve that kind of treatment. I would have run the gits over!

what sort of subaru are you driving for a new m3 to feel slow? :freak3:
I thought it was unbelievable, power from everywhere and you could drive it for 10 hours without feeling totally fed up unlike a scooby.

e46 are great value at the minute, thank goodness i sold mine last summer! thinking of buying another one but servicing and tyre costs (19") do put me off a bit.

It's a high miler though.

Whatever happens, it's a BMW next.

It's an amazing car. Power, sound and quality all in one package.

1st to 2nd gear is a bit of a pain. Need to get the hang of the clutch.

Same in pretty much every beemer I've ever driven, Z4 3.0i, 330i, 320d, 318i, 120d!!!!

You soon learn to drive round it!

Nat 08 April 2009 02:18 PM

I like BMW pedals and gear change. They reward you for driving precisely and encourage you to do so. Lots of sports cars don't have that anymore. You can drive most new Porsches in a sloppy manner and get away with it.

But you've been saying that for about a year. If you haven't convinced the mrs by now it is unlikely you ever will.

Face it, the Citroen Picasso is your future! ;)

Apologies... still more C5 than M5 though :lol1:

RobEvo5 09 April 2009 06:18 PM

I've actually noticed E46 M3 go back up in value in the last couple of months. You could have got a 2001-2002 50K mileage coupe for 10-11K, and cabs for 13-14K a while ago. I will be in the market for one, but not at the current prices which are:

About 13-14K for a 2001 with about 50-80K miles and 15-18K for a 2003 with 40-50K miles.

Good value but you can get a 2007 hawkeye STI with 15-20K miles for circa 12K at the moment.

What's still more C5? Me, our cars or something else?

I have spoken about the next car far less than some have talked about 996 Turbos and the like.

Plus my PR company is doing very well. How is your bosses PR firm getting on? ;):hjtwofing

fivetide 09 April 2009 06:47 PM

Getting on with a much better sense of humour than yours it seems...

Chill dude. Was having a laugh.

Of course you are doing great, you've got the money in the bank blah blah blah.

Sh1t or get off the pot chap.

5t.

Matteeboy 09 April 2009 06:49 PM

Well you were labouring the point a bit.

So I bit ever so slightly.

Anyway, have a fun Easter.

fivetide 09 April 2009 06:52 PM

Actually was after an update on persuading the mrs. As you know we're looking to do the same (once the wheels fall off the scooby). Mrs not a fan though as its "too big" and "i'll never park it"

5t.

EDIT to add - you too. Taking the wee man to his grandparents. Might get a night in the pub too. Result. God bless the load space of the Scooby Wagon.

Matteeboy 09 April 2009 07:01 PM

Wife is a little bit of a petrol head - she learned to drive in a 96 Scooby Wagon (yep - turbo) which was a few months old. Then took her test in a Defender pick up. And test drive a new Supra 6 months after passing. And loved the R32.

She'd never ever ever allow us to have a French MPV!

Getting there with the persuasion. It's the right car - just needs to be a right time.

Similar grandparent help for us too over Easter - very handy.

Now we both need our cars to break - and soon...

Sorry about my comment - a bit out of order. Long conference call last thing on a Thursday wasn't handy (although it was positive).

Have a good one!
