Hyrdolocked??

Hi guys, after some advice, bit of a long story....
I drove my sti4 from the office to the house after work, just taking it easy under 3000rpm the hole way never putting the engine under load etc. The car was running for 10mins then I switched it off, when I went to use the car 30mins later the engine wouldn’t turn over and it sounded like the battery didn’t have the power to turn the starter motor over(Made that clicking sound). I checked the battery and it had power and the connections were tight, so thought maybe the starter motor was knacked. Luckily a local garage gave me another starter motor to try, after quickly changing this over it made the same sound without turning the engine over (starter turned fine when taken off the car to check they were working ok). After some more advice from the garage its seems like the end has come off an injector and has hydro locked the engine. This makes sense as I tried to rock the car and its locked up, I also checked the oil cap which stank of fuel.

Does this sound like hyrdolocking?

Thanks for your help.

:(:(

pull the plugs out and see what one, if any fuel comes out,or the spark plug will be wet.once you remove plugs turn over by hand as this will pump any fuel in cylinder out,but you may have to remove heads to find end of injector.never heard of this but it plosable.this way your not going to do any damage as your turnin engine by hand.

I think you will find that it is far more likely to be a gudgeon pin has lost it's clip and shot into the block through the access hole. I have seen this before !

Tried searching but I couldnt find any threads about that, would that make the oil stink of petrol though?

bigchap 06 April 2009 10:05 PM

it could as the pin cracks the blockand so breaks into oil jackets.start with the simples and remove your plugs, turn over by hand ,if it wont turn something is locking it up.when plugs are out there is no compression so engine turns really easy by hand.

Thanks mate, ill get the plugs out and see if it turns over by hand.

its white cause it has been steamed clean.something has gone through you block into water jackets.outcome most probable knackered.sorry mate
